How can a 30 second scene, from a 40 year old movie, have a stronger impact than the last 3 Star Wars movies combined?

there was actual heart (that was conveyed to the theater by skill) that went into those 30 seconds, now it's just endless skill bringing us heartless images and sounds
The lady that edited it was really good at what she did.
simply epic
John Williams at his peak. A relatable character moment. Holy fuck Star Wars was so good.
It had soul.
Disney is soulless.
imagine seeing this scene and the sense of amazement they must've felt. like your mind runs wild just thinking about what's to come.
now its just utter fucking trash.
The only silver lining to the past Star Wars films (I’d argue all of the newer onces starting from Phantom Menace) is that their immense shittyness makes me appreciate the original trilogy even more than I already did, and I already thought theu were in the god tier of greatest films of all time.
>tfw just realized never watched New Hope in 1080

Because it was actually based off of literature, and it was made by people who understood the importance of that. George took the time to develop his own rich and creative mythos out of the eastern and western story conventions we all know and love, combining them in a unique and original way. This awareness and depth to the OT’s writing is what made it so powerful. Back then, they knew how to imply and let our imaginations run wild, rather than to simply and flatly speak. Today’s Star Wars films are like drugs, candy, pure stimulus and visceral pleasure shoved into the throats of consumers. There is no allusion to the real world anymore. It’s very sad.
gay reddit meme that's been disproven a million times. let george lucas have praise for what he did well.
disney
It's true, watch the special features on any dvd for A New Hope and they'll talk about how it was aved in editing and that Lucas's cut was awful and had no pacing
Incel alert
they both did good, have sex
Wrong faggot.
Lucas' original cut was fucking awful (even his director buddies hated it).
His wife also added the "Death Star wants to destroy the rebel base" aspect of the final battle (before that they were just attacking the Death Star while it was doing nothing in space).
The original cut wasn't done by Lucas but by some random British editor he had hired.
I disagree. Without Disney, we wouldn't have this, and it certainly brought out the heart in me...
Yep I can hear the music just by looking at this picture.

the father/son bonding scene in Dune was better than this
What piece of literature is that 30 second clip based off of?

Soul Vs Souless
Fuck user, that fucking hurt so bad...
nobody said anything about sexism
>*woman does something cool that is also well-documented and acknowledged*
>NOOOOOOOO REEEE FUCKING FEMOIDS, THAT NEVER HAPPENED
you're a soi reddit faggot if you don't indigent when you read about a woman doing anything
The funny thing is I have never cared for the Star Wars series and have never followed it outside of watching the first one, but I vividly remember seeing this scene at 7-8 years old and thinking it was awesome and it's still the only thing I remember from the entire film is that
Naw if it's one thing women do well in film it's editing so fuck off asshole.
why wasnt that in the movie
youtube.com
A) The music
B) The use of natural light
C) Mark Hamill's perfect body language and facial expression - think of how much information is conveyed here
D) The editing in this scene is perfect as well. Notice how it matches the beats of the Force Theme
I love these kind of threads, you can actually feel that the boomers are 100% serious in their posts. They actually think everything they experienced was better, lmao how fucking delusional
why are women so fucking good at everything they do?
he did it one more time in the prequel trilogy

it's a gay meme because literally every movie requires a lot of editing to come out right, star wars is no special case what so ever.
>greenscreen/cgi vs. natural lighting/real environment
a real location, shot on real film. based soundtrack.
More like last 8 movies combined. It should've been a one-off movie, making it a franchise killed Star Wars.
