What's their endgoal?
What's their endgoal?
Brainwashed by an alien.
In Hellraiser 1 and 2? They're just interdimensional beings concerned with experiencing and giving pleasure derived from the deepest form of agony.
In Hellraiser 3-4? They're Christian Demons obsessed with taking over the world.
I have only watched until 2 so far, is this change the main reason some people hate 3-4?
>I have only watched until 2
Then you are finished watching Hellraiser. 3 tries to fit Hellraiser into a cliche franchise slasher, and it's basically all down hill from there.
I've heard some people say 3 and 4 are underrated, there's movies after thst too right? And apparently those are the truly shit ones
Yes. All the original creators and studio artists had left by 3 so it’s basically a different franchise
hellraiser inferno BROUGHT IT BACK TO KINO THOUGH
>I've heard some people say 3 and 4 are underrated
Those people are not your friends. Immediately cut them out of your life.
It was 2 that ruined the franchise with that horrid script but most people don't realize it because the production would only be fucked up with the third movie.
3 is a very cheesy flick. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I know that.
4 has some interesting backstory but has a ridiculous space "Jason X" type setting. It's an example of a film that was directed by Allan Smithee-an industry term for when a director disowns their own film, and so the above name (or some variant) is used. Another example of this is the extended cut of Lynch's Dune, which insults the audience's intelligence by explaining everything (anathema to Lynch's mysterious artistry) for 20 minutes in a boring exposition.
The other reason why the first two flicks are (correctly) considered the proper dyad is that they are set immediately next to each other, and maintain the same basic logic. I myself haven't seen anything beyond the above, but they do have these cheapo DVDs with the lesser films at the local Barnes and Nobles, and I'm slightly curious out of some mashochism. Shit like pic related makes me want to watch them at least once, but something tells me nothing else really notable occurs apart from these bitches.
Give fatal pleasure to people who solve the puzzle, convert some of them into new Cenobites, and otherwise just run things in Hell.
Two was watchable and true to form, even if it wasn't good. It was a Hellraiser movie, and the last Hellraiser movie ever made.
Find Griffith
Yeah, because they decided to shit all over the cenobites. 3 and everything else was the inevitable consequence.
I've never seen Hellraiser somehow
Is there lore, or is more like Elm Street
>Yeah, because they decided to shit all over the cenobites.
You mean with the added lore and Leviathan stuff?
And yet Doug Bradley hates it.
Yes, and the fact they literally shat all over the cenobites with the doctor donut steel story arc. It took away all the allure the cenobites had.
Yeah, its based on a book.
yup
yup
>I've heard some people say 3 and 4 are underrated
I mean, kinda? a lot of people say they are the worst thing ever, and I don't think they're honestly even in the bottom 10.
>there's 10 films
goddamn, I may watch until 4 just bevause cenobite lore seems cool, but idk yet
First two are the best.
3-4 are not good but still Hellraiser films to an extent.
Every film after that were scripts based on entirely different movies that were changed at the 11th hour to make it Hellraiser and shove Pinhead in, somewhere along the way Cenobites became irrelevant. They got dumped by 3 for newer, shitty ones.
>It took away all the allure the cenobites had.
Yeah, it probably would have been better without the doctor. It definitely wasn't a good movie. It seems like everyone who has owned the license since either doesn't understand the material or doesn't give a fuck. It's too bad, we'll probably never get another real Hellraiser movie.
Pinhead just really started getting into shitty horror flicks so he became interested in the half-retaraded psychological horror of it and enjoyed to partake in such scenarios.
>a lot of people say they are the worst thing ever, and I don't think they're honestly even in the bottom 10.
This. I was able to watch 3 and 4 without tearing my eyes out and eating them.
>there will never be a good Hellraiser ever again
I don't understand why they can't make a good one.
Almost am curious how they could manage to deviate so much, 4-10 that is
The true question is:
Could Ash beat them?
Somewhere from the last few movies onwards the rights got sold to Dimension Films who make the absolute worst of the worst movies Hellraiser movies, still based on unrelated scripts.
Ironically the films rights are stuck in a qualitative hell.
I wish some other studio would get it and just remake it or something, every other horror movie gets it. its probably too late now Doug Bradley is probably too old.
Yeah, watch them. It's not all bad. It's just mostly bad.
I don't know if any one has tried shooting cenobytes yet
I'd like to think so.
comedy > everything
bugs bunny would beat them too.
be the edgiest edgelords
Butterball got beat by falling debris and he's supposedly the strongest one in the book.
The strongest demon is the fat manlet?
In the book he's the boss and Pinhead is his subordinate.
As much as I hated that, Barker never intended the Centobites let alone Pinhead to be a main focus. It was set up for Julie to be the main villian. At the end of two, it was supposed to be riding up from the mattress.
However Pinheads popularity changes all that and why it was changed last minute to him riding up at the end and why the 3rd movie was all him
Of course he would. What a dumb question. He's fucking Ash Williams.
Pain and pleasure, of course
He's basically Doomguy so yes
You guys just reminded me to continue that new series, it's meh but still better than the sequels to the original movie
Things would’ve been a lot different if the massive amount of makeup didn’t make it impossible for Butterball and The Chatter from speaking in the movie. Because of they all the lines had to be split between Pinhead and The Female Centobite and why the movie made it look like he was the boss
also causality
Pinhead was shot in III, but he was in the Pillar of Souls at the time, and just spat up the bullets.
He didn't react at all to be shot with lasers in Bloodline.
are they still on the boat
>As much as I hated that, Barker never intended the Centobites let alone Pinhead to be a main focus
And that’s why Hellraiser Inferno is so good
actually they got off
They had a good idea with Inferno but it turned out to be little more than Pinhead's Christmas Special in the end.
are they fighting the god hand already? might pick it up again
the later sequels are very meta. watching them is a bit like *actually* being tortured by cenobites.
they're dancing with fairies now
just pretend it ended around when guts partied up with the little witch girl, the flying naked shota fairy, and the obnoxious comic relief boy
Now that's immersion.
Who would win?
Yang 2020.
3 and 4 have very good moments.
3 has the best Pinhead dialogues, and 4 has the most complex story.
