Why do movies rarely portray Egyptians correctly?
ITT: Egyptians in film
U mad the Kangz ain’t whitewashed, white boi?
FUCK NIGGERS
Because Hollywood can't into movies. The most accurate Eyptian themed movie was "Pharaoh", filmed by soviets or slavs in 1960s. Yep. They made something Hollywood could never get.
t. Egyptologist, enthusiast
>the same people who constantly cry about this shit unironically believe Cleopatra wasn't white
This isn't Cleopatra. Looks more like Nefertiti, wife of Amenhotep IV, Tut's mother.
Cleopatra was mostly Greek however she could have Egyptian roots.
Her roots were the ptolemy, brainlet
>Egyptologist
how old do you think the sphinx is
Yes, but again her mother could be an Egyptian.
I don't know any Macedonian and/or Greek actors desu
Do you mean Great Sphinx of Giza, right? The most famous one. Well, it's much older than expected. It's probably pre Old Kingdom, so older than 2500BC. It's not my speciallity but latest research suggest that Sphinx is actually partly natural formation too. They are mapping it in great details. If you are interested you can read more here.
>arce.org
I wouldn't be surprised if it was from before 3000BC. Again, it's not my speciallity.
White america is too racist and afraid
interesting and thanks for the link. it was annoying how zahi hawass acts and other egyptologists seem to go more for an idealized version of ancient egypt than basing anything on science. i'm a bit interested in geology and some of the ancient civilization stuff.
Cool stuff. Not that user, but does Egypt have any stories of "the sea people", i.e. Atlanteans? And what's the coolest/redpill-est thing you know about their old Mystery religion? Anything else I should read that's more aligned with that like the Emerald Tablets?
To be honest, he's a jerk.
White Americans are the most tolerant people to ever walk the Earth.
>stories of "the sea people", i.e. Atlanteans?
None I'm aware of. These would be probably either too old or not described enough. However there are flooded ruins of Thonis (also knonw as Heraclion in Greek era) that could be an inspiration for Atlantis.
They found many statues, ruins, stellas and more.
It obviously doesn't fit Plato's description but if you are looking for Atlantis this is where I'd start.
>Thonis
>aka Heraclion
Thanks based Egyptbro, looks pretty interesting! Will check it out
Heracleion, to be extact. Sorry. Stupid mistake. Use Thonis name to be sure.
>extact
oops, again stupid mistake. exact
Atlantis is under the Hatton Rockall zone.
>egyptologist
>not pre flood pilled
What about that massive sarcophagus? Did they open it?
Thebes era Egypt was better anyway.
Yes. There were 3 mummies but they were is so bad shape that only bones remain. Water seeped into the stone coffin. See.
2 months ago they found another tomb and dozens of mummies from Ptolemaic era.
>Why do movies rarely portray Egyptians correctly?
Because now if you don't portray them incorrectly as black, blacks chimp out.
Yeah. I remember SJWs freaking out over Malek in Night at the Museum or that princess in latest mummy movie. Speaking of which, while there were mistakes, they got many things right and I liked that.
WE WAS KANGS
A biblical animated epic did it best
Have you read Waltari's Sinuhe? What did you think?
Even if there were blacks, they would be mostly among lower tier society. Pharaohs weren't and even if some were (Nubian peroid) they would not be that dark because they were usually in shadows.
Pure egyptians were not blacks. They called black people "Nehesu", while they called themself "Reth". Libyans were whiter and Egyptians used the term "Themehu". It has been decrypted from the Book of Gates, where they used these terms to describe racial differences.
>On the left of the path of the boat of Ra are:--1. A hawk-headed god, leaning upon a staff; he is called Horus. 2. Four groups, each group containing four men. The first are RETH, the second are AAMU, the third axe NEHESU, and the fourth are THEMEHU. The RETH are Egyptians, the AAMU are dwellers in the deserts to the east and north-east of Egypt, the NEHESU are the black races and NEGROES, and the THEMEHU are the fair-skinned Libyans. 3. Twelve bearded beings, each of whom grasps with both hands the body of a long serpent; these are called the "Holders of the period of time in Ament." 4. Eight bearded gods, who are called the "Sovereign chiefs of the Tuat."

Book of Gates is from New Kingdom era.
She actually looks perfectly Egyptian.
Why do threads like this always get at least over 10 replies?
She looks North African.
Apparently ancient Egyptians looked like Tiger Woods.
>blacks complain about not being part of Egyptian movies when they had Eddie Murphy as the Pharaoh in Michael Jackson's Remember the Time music video
No, I had no time. Even if the novel is set in New Kingdom era it's based on a tale from Middle Kingdom, it's not really my speciallity anyway but some people think biblical Moses could be inspired by this (the original tale, not the novel) or at least part with finding him - baby on the river.
Anybody got that picture of the obviously caucasian guy in egyptian garb
What is the source of that picture anyway?
They are comfy if you ignore racial bits.

Egyptian royalty weren't black
would you fuck the great sphinx doggy style?
KANGZ
>hurrr look, me build very big pile of rocks
>entire culture and empire inmediatly collapses the moment someone makes contact with them
Damn, what a totally worthwhile civilization.
Yeah, with obelisk-sized strap on.
>marvelsourrevolution
Lol holy shit
would you have preferred if Egypt remained Christian or they did fine by being Muslims?
Hard to say. I think Muslims ironically helped to preserve what remains. Roman empire (even Christian era) could change too much, possibly destroy some landmarks. Muslims gave no shit about them, they abandoned them... and we can re-discover them now. By now I mean last 200 years.
Whether or not Black Americans are the descendants of ancient Egyptian royalty, it's a win-win scenario. Either they're seriously embarrassing themselves by pretending to be something that they're not, or they really are descended from royalty and that further increases the absurdity of our already, overwhelmingly, absurd universe.
Obviously they are not. Shipped slaves come mostly from west Africa.

are Egyptian people friendly towards tourists? I'm planning on going on a trip there with my family next year
Would you drink 5000 year old rotten mummy juice for $10,000?
Mostly yes. They prefer humble ones who actually show some respect. They don't like cocky guys who think that money is everything... but be aware, they are kinda greedy too. It's best not to show them that you are either rich or poor.
No. Too dangerous, I'd say even deadly. Many 1800s-1900s archeologists died because of toxic air in tombs. This liquid is probably poisonous.
I would drink it solely to gain their magical powers. Forget the ten thousand smackers.
how much % do you think you have discovered with the Egyptian remains / archeological sites? Do you think you'd stumble something like the one on The Mummy?
That guy is nowhere near as dark as woods.
This is the only accurate portrayal of Egyptians Hollywood has ever done...
Opinion on niggers? Opinion on modern Egyptians? Opinion on the few white people who do the nigger we wuz shit?
Damn near every single African slave brought over to the Americas came from mainly 2 countries in Africa: Senegambia (Senegal) & Angola. Both of these countries are on the west coast of Africa & neither one of these countries are anywhere near Egypt.
>b-b-but how do you know....
There’s this little thing called mitochondrial DNA which all women pass down to their kids. Without getting too smarty-arty & all scientific and shit, a person’s roots can literally be traced back thousands of years following the mitochondrial “trail” of women in one’s family tree. And for most Black people whose ancestors came over here as slaves, damn near every slave in the Americas mitochondrial DNA can be traced back to Senegambia & Angola.
They start off as shitposting threads but derail into comfy discussions and information sharing, so the complete opposite of normal threads.
Some casino advertisement iirc, can't find the pic either.
he went to cambridge
so?
Is there any evidence to suggest it predates the old kingdom? From what I understand there's nominal evidence for this, but nothing concrete. Some people are convinced by the water erosion hypothesis, but I don't think the evidence supports it. At least not the absurdly older date that people like Robert Schoch spout.
t. Sebastian LaCroix
>how much % do you think you have discovered with the Egyptian remains / archeological sites?
Well, I'd say 0%. Not every egyptologists is an archaeologist. We are definitely not like Indiana Jones or Tom Cruise. Neither are archaeologists. Usually it is like:
- Egyptologists research and suggest where it to look for something.
- Archaeologists dig there, maybe they find something.. or maybe not.
- If they find something, egyptologists are examining it.
>Do you think you'd stumble something like the one on The Mummy?
Maybe... last year they found a tomb of an ancient priestess. It's almost 4500 years old. Unfortunately Sofia Boutella wasn't there.
>Unfortunately Sofia Boutella wasn't there
you were cool until you referenced the new Mummy cmon man
>Sofia Boutella wasn't there
Keep digging and let me know when you find my setepai
DON'T OPEN IT
where is Alexander's body
They kings and queens doe.
Why? It's a pretty cool movie. Maybe critics didn't like it but from egyptological point of view it's kinda alright despite having Seth labeled as god of death, which he wasn't. However they got many other things right. I enjoyed it anyway.
This is cute.
No idea, Ptolemaic dynasty is not my cup of tea. Some people expected him to be in that black sarcophagus but it's not the case anymore.
what's the oldest artifact that you have on record?
why did Egypt failed to hold on to its superpower status and got gobbled up by the romans?
>what's the oldest artifact that you have on record?
It can't be older than +/-1500BC because that's my speciality - for something older they would probably call someone else. In fact it's archaeologists who find artifacts, then we (Egyptologists of many kinds) examine them later. Someone else will look at weapons and someone else will check mummies. I don't remember the oldest artifact, to be honest age doesn't matter as much as importance of it. You would never guess what is one of our greatest finds - it's a piece of ancient cheese. I know it sounds ridiculous but it's priceless because we had no evidence that Egyptians produced cheese 3000 years ago.
>why did Egypt fail to hold on to its superpower status and got gobbled up by the romans?
Roman empire was more advanced, Egypt was already pretty much ruined. Constant wars, environmental disasters and social problems slowly ruined it. For more exact answer You would have to ask someone 'deeper' in Ptolemaic dynasty.
