Are Americans so braindead that they just have contrived negative opinions of certain celebrities because South Park made fun of them?

no
he's an asshole solely for everything he did after 1980
Oasis did too, Brit Bong.
People don't like Phil Collins because of South Park? He's a good musician and I never heard of this shit and I've seen the episode but never seen anyone irl hold this opinion.
But I like Sussudio.
yes
No. They hate them because they are annoying and South Park just reflects that in the show.
My hairline IRL 24 years old
What did he do?
what did he do?
his solo career
Same just kill me
they shat on collins because he won the oscar for best song instead of blame canada. they weren't actually trying to be critical of him, it was just tongue-in-cheek jealousy
What about it?
>I was just pretending to be retarded
He managed to fuck up a Led Zeppelin reunion which is pretty shitty.
This.
With the original Genesis, he was a gold drummer.
Yes, see Rob Schneider and Michael Bay
No. South Park has no effect on public opinion. Public opinion had a larger effect on South Park.
it sucks
But Peter Gabriel left. That was the true end of Genesis - not when Collins went solo.
Iktf
Tfw Hispanic and everyone else has nice hair and I have that god awful shit going to join the army where I can have short hair and just do physical stuff all day
How does it suck? Like a vacuum or like a whirlpool?
Not really. He was going to jam with Robert Plant and at the last minute it turned into a Zep Reunion. He wasn’t prepared (and it showed) but it wasn’t like he solely set out to join the reunion. Jimmy Page was far worse for the sound then Collins
Correct
I have no feelings one way or another about Phil Collins, but I have heard he's a prick
I wear hats all the time and I have a self depracating sense of humor like a suicidal Danny Devito.
The South Park guys were kind of making fun of themselves by making Phil Collins so over-the-top retarded, as if they were really pissed about losing an Oscar to him.
Honestly I’ve just accepted it and went full on Frazier crane I only wear hats if I’m working out or camping it’s tragic and sad but life goes on but that personality thing is bad people will take you for a weakling and try to get over you even if you are confident in yourself
They hated him, they said they expected to lose to the others but were pissed they lost to Phil Collins because they hated him. That was the beauty of old South Park, they were petty as fuck but no one could retaliate without looking butthurt as fuck.
Even when Page was completely fucked up on heroin in LZ's later days, he still had Bonham there to carry him and make him sound good.
I guess? I mean every body seems to like me at my shitty job and I'm a hard worker so they don't care that I'm bald? Do they?
South Park hasn’t exactly been renown for its high IQ fans.
Honesty I can’t speak for everyone but the only people who have cracked about my hair are my closest friends and I let them but most people will go oh he’s bald or has this hairline . Even if they did say something it should only matter if they matter to you
Do you mean known or do you mean renowned?
I just don't give a fuck honestly and I just look like that psychotic fuck Keith Flint or like Danny Devito like I said.
Overrated drummer but good vocalist
I just hope you don’t have the Keith flint haircut
Peter will always be the greater artist.
Exactly what I meant. I’m saying South Park fans are famous for parroting unfunny shit from this show.
No it doesn't you zoomer idiot
I felt the urge to post Lily
Have you heard Selling England by the Pound? fucking top notch drumming on a top notch album
Nah my hair is too curly and I'd need a fuck load of hair gel to get it to stay straight like that so I look more like a kike with a jewfro.
What? Some of his solo/post-Gabriel genesis stuff was good. Nobody gave Ray Manzerik shit for trying to be the Door's singer after Morrison's death even though that led to absolutely irredeemable garbage.
As a musician and drummer myself i think hes very good. Hes not one of the best ever but hes pretty damn talented.
>foot tattoo
What a whore would bust a nut then leave her to clean it off her toes/10
South Park is literally top 3 funniest shows of all time.
Stay mad faggot.
No. South Park makes fun of them because Americans have negative opinions on them.
Jimmy page was drunk and seemed to be playing a different song at times.
>not rating a trick of the tail
(you) are the real pleb
No of course not Phil and Kanye are based af.
What's wrong `with being the foremost popular songwriter, performer not to mention artist of the latter half of the 20th century?
"Wind & Wuthering", "Abacab" and "Genesis" are by far their best albums idiot.
youtube.com
Philchads where are you?
Many millennials like myself watched South Park as kids and so the first time we heard of most of these celebrities was through the caricatures of them on South Park. For a lot of them the ONLY thing I know about this is their caricature and have never seen an original work of theirs or whatever made them famous.
why do black people love Phil Collins so much?
He's a great musician and has made literally nothing but bangers for his entire career
>"Wind & Wuthering", "Abacab" and "Genesis"
Better than Selling England by The Pound, Nursery Crime or Foxtrot? Nah m8
>tfw the first tine I heard a Gabriel song was in the 100th Smallville episode
>tfw never cared for Genesis
>only now finding out Gabriel was in the band
Jesus christ, I feel like a massive pleb right now
That’s because you’re a millennial retard
20% great jams surrounded by 80% meandering, unfocused garbage. Latter releases are objectively superior from a compositional and production standpoint, as well as often having a much greater sense of humor and witty takes.
Even before that Collins and Banks used to shat on Hackett regularly, even though (or rather because) he's way better artist than those hacks. Just look at their solo albums. Gabriel's solo work is also vastly superior.
>Dancing with the moonlit knight
>Firth of fifth
>The musical box
>The knife
>Suppers ready
>Get em out by friday
>Fountain of salmacis
>Watcher of the skies
>20% great jams surrounded by 80% meandering
Nah, 100% quality from start to finish, sorry you lost interest so easily
>not The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Ladies, please.
Gabriel Genesis is better, sure, but that doesn't mean Collins Genesis isn't based as fuck too. Abacab especially, a near perfect pop album.
The real debate is who had the better solo career, Phil or Peter?
Other way around. He should stick to drums.
youtube.com
As a drummer, percussion always had a prominence in his music. It appeals to them on a genetic level like the jungle drums of their ancestors.
>debate
What debate? Collins had literally one fully good album (About Face). All the rest is just a bland crap with few occasional radiocore hits now and then.
You don't rate No Jacket Required? Also his single Easy Lover is a banger.
and Peter? you could easily say the same about him
Get the fuck outta here. Phil has sold like 50 million albums here between his Genesis and solo work. He's one of those few artists who is considered based by both blacks and whites.
All the four unnamed albums are literal masterpieces, Melt being perhaps the peak of his solo artistic career. All the later albums had at least half genuinely good songs in them while 90% of Collins' songs feel like literal fillers. Heck, some of his albums are literal fillers.
LORD, HERE COMES THE FLOOD
based
I don't like how he makes up nonsense words when he can't think of rhymes or things to go with the beat
>Sussudio
>Abacab
this is what niggers do in rap
It's called scat.
He doesn't use either of those words as rhymes, nitwit
He's a good guy, he just looks like an asshole.
/thread
It's a shame. He's one of the greats.
Phil Collins is a top tier drummer who's played with Eric Clapton and Brian Eno. He made pop music in the 80's and music snobs hate him for it, but he's a great talent.
Almost watched that video until I realized it was MovieBob.
He pretty much invented the gated reverb technique that's still used today
>Do you like Phil Collins?
>I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism.
thanks boys I lowkey wanted reccs of what to listen to
we out here
other way around. south park usually only makes fun of celebs after everybody has a negative opinion of them. they were like three decades late to the party in OPs case.
kinda reminds me of seeing pop culture references in looney tunes as a kid and only decades later realizing "that's from casablanca, and now they're doing steinbeck".
