It even bigger than China's 70% drop.
Well, maybe you amrican guys still have some hope.
71%drop
as long as capeshit makes million i have no faith
upcoming "joker" movie may change it a bit because it doesn't seem like cgi shitfest.
Who would have guessed people were less likely to watch a movie on a weekday versus a weekend. Im no fan of the movie but atleast come up with something better
>Lower drop than Ragnarok and Guardians 2
So par for the course then. Stop making Capeshit threads
>Captain America: Civil War Monday Drop
-68.7%
>Doctor Strange Monday Drop
-70.6%
>Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Monday Drop
-74.8%
>Thor Ragnarok Monday Drop
-74.3%
CAPTAIN MARVEL IS FINISHED GUYS
So it's confirmed kino just like BvS.
i do not understand how people are not sick of these fucking movies yet
I was wondering why the box office mojo has barely moved, I also find it weird that they still haven't explained that foreign total yet.
Nothing to get worked up about. If it makes less than BvS tomorrow though then we can start shitposting
It is a bad movie. The more people see it... the more people know it is a bad movie.
Major franchises are like the Titanic. They don't explode the second they hit the iceberg.
Remember when Batman was an invincible box office god? It wasn't long ago... and now he is a Lego character.
But it a took a few movies to show that.
bro, kiss me
kiss my DOODOO
>Buena Vista
what shithole country is that? never heard of it
>and now he is a Lego character.
With another new movie in two years. If Matt Reeves makes a good Batman movie he will spring right back to top popularity
Really hoping this is a joke
Is Captain Marvel the movie that finally killed pol-tv?
>Civil War opened at $179m, ran for 140 days, and its next MCU competition was 6 months away in Dr. Strange and made $1 billion with a 35/64 split. It had to compete with only Dr. Strange from the MCU in its 5 months.
>Doctor Strange opened at $85 million, ran for 133 days, and its next MCU competition was 6 months away in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and made $1 billion with a 34/66 split. It only had to compete with Guardians 2 in its 5 months.
>Guardians 2 opened to $146m, ran for 140 days, and its next MCU competition was 2 months away in Homecoming pulling in $800m with a 45/55 split. It only had to compete with Thor: Ragnarok in its 5 months.
> Thor Ragnarok opened to $122m, ran for 133 days, and its next MCU competition was 3 month away in Black Panther pulling in $853 million with a 37/63 split. It had to compete with Black Panther and Infinity war in its 5 months -- the two largest earners in MCW.
>Captain Marvel opened to $150m, its runtime is unknown, and its next MCU competition is 1 month away in Endgame. If it runs 140 days or 5 months, it will have to compete with Endgame and Far from Home, one of which is probably the most anticipated MCU movie.
Gauging by the numbers, it's likely to not break the top 10 films in the MCU in earnings in its run. It'll probably end up worse than Ragnarok and sit around Guardians or Dr. Strange when everything settles. But if that dropoff continues, Captain Marvel is fucked.
Measure first week and second week difference compared to average movies and you will see all the bought tickets by disney.
Except that endgame actually boosted black panther. If the same thing happens with CM itl go nuts
>Ran for X days
You cold have just said you don't understand how the box office works. By the end of it's second Sunday so after 10 days, Civil War had made 295mil domestically. So pretty much 75% of it's final gross. All the Marvel movies are front loaded but if Captain Marvel follows regular patterns it will still make 380mil domestically at a conservative estimate
>If the same thing happens with CM itl go nuts
It already has happened. I doubt it would have opened this big otherwise
Capeshit will never die. Yea Forums will gladly support capeshit to "own the /pol/s"
Endgame hasn't been released. If you mean Infinity war, it was released on April 27th. On April 26th, Black Panther made $523,914. On the 17th it made $1.3m. On the 28th it made $2m. On the 29it it made $1.2m. On the 30th, it dropped below the 26th to $431k.
In all, it gave Black Panther a bump from $683,628,489 to $688,796,094 for a net gain of $5,167,605 or, in all .7% increase in overall revenues.
Conversely, if that happened today, they would get $1.1million.
>It'll probably end up worse than Ragnarok and sit around Guardians or Dr. Strange when everything settles. But if that dropoff continues, Captain Marvel is fucked.
Lmao what? Ragnaroks end gross was $854 million. CM is doing better both domestically and internationally, and had a lower Monday drop. It's making $950m minimum. Even counting the drops projections have it passing $700m This weekend
I chose the most complete measurement -- box office start to box office end. I did not decide to arbitrarily cut off specific amounts because I want to fit a conclusion.
Take Black Panther for example. $403m in the first 10 days. Domestically made $700m -- nowhere near "75%". If you want to maintain these ass-pulled stats, I can go through other movies. Name your poison.
You seem to have forgotten people were else touting GotG 2 to hit the billion
this means nothing. It will recover by the weekend
Can’t you just accept defeat like a man?
*were also
You're citing worldwide. I'm citing domestic. I don't have data for international from boxofficemojo broken down by days. If you have a by-day worldwide breakdown, please feel free to share.
>Watching any capeshit for any reason ever
Why would anybody do this to themselves?
Reminder that China still represents about 29% of the overseas box office on monday just like it did on the opening weekend, so it's dropping everywhere like China
Reminder that if this movie has a 3x opening weekend multiplier (including China) like Ragnarok did (which it's currently on pace to do), it's end gross will be around $1.3 billion
It won't break a billion because RDJ is not in it
>but what about Black Panther
the exception that proves the rule
Have sex.
is this good or bad for the movie
>Reminder that if this movie has a 3x opening weekend multiplier (including China) like Ragnarok did
and you just pulled that out of your ass
It's performing worse than Civil War which only had a 2.3x multiplier
>people don't like to go see movies on weekdays because of school and work
>LOL MOVIE BOMBING XDDDD
I don't even want the movie to do well but you all are fucking dumb
I'm telling you that Endgame is to far away to be considered competition. Captain Marvel has 7 whole weekends before Endgame comes out. You know how much Infinity war was doing in it's 7th weekend ? 7m, and that's one of the biggest films of all time
>$490,000,000 in 4 days
>only half a billion dollars in 4 days
wow, what a failure
you were right again incel
Black Panther also had a very solid review base to give it push. Captain Marvel has a relatively mixed review base with it often being called bland, mediocre, or "OK".
Outside of the sexism angle, it really lacks a review and fan base.
captain marvel was released everywhere simultaneously, so no it won't gave that multi.
have*
Captain Marvel was released 3/8. Endgame is released 4/26 or 49 days away.
Black Panther was released 2/16/18. Infinity War was released 4/27/18 or 70 days away.
Your argument was that Black Panther was boosted by Infinity. My counterargument was the bump was not a huge part of the gross with double the time between the two. Imagine half the time between two films. The bump could be quite smaller. If that is the case, Captain Marvel will not receive a large bump from Endgame and could see it more eat into profits than bump them.
>Well, maybe you amrican guys still have some hope.
there's a reason the disney shills ignore the US numbers, it didn't even beat shrek 3
I don't see how a Marvel Movie can fail to reach a billion. They have so much money behind them to drive advertising.
Yea i was referring to the bump IW gave BP. What is interesting is that instead of competing with IW BP made more money because of it. I think that disney has realized it can use the avengers movies to boost solo capeshit films while they are both still on theatres
Problem is that Black Panther also had a lot of social momentum as a black narrative with positive reviews. Captain Marvel has the sexism angle with mixed reviews.
It could do the opposite. It'll be interesting to see!
Samuel really saved that movie man, now that I think about it I cant even imagine how much of a boring shitshow it would be
You have autism. The Endgame bump for Captain Marvel comes from the Infinity War tease and people feeling like she must be important and not wanting to miss anything. I actually didn't say anything about Black Panther if you actually follow our conversation back. That was a different user
my wife takes her son to each one when they come out because he likes them. She doesn't like the movies so she goes to the gym and gets a extra workout in with her trainer. Hes a ex NFL player, but is really nice. He even drove over the other day when I was at work because she left her hair tie at the gym.
Gf made me watch
Monday drop means fucking nothing.
Second weekend drop is a pretty good gauge of quality, or at least word of mouth. We'll see what the average erson thinks of it next week.
