Okay, so which one should I watch first? I'm going to watch both in the end. But I fear that the 1977 version wouldn't be as scary and I don't want to damage my inmersion in the 2018
Okay, so which one should I watch first? I'm going to watch both in the end...
the 77 version is fucking bonkers and too weird. if you don't have any experience watching 70s italian cinema you won't enjoy it. watch the remake instead.
Just watch the 1977 version braindead zoomie. Don't waste your time on soulless remakes.
Only watch the original, the new one is shit.
yikes
The original Suspiria is beautiful, don't spoil it.
does it stand up then? if so I'll watch the original first
77 version is fun as fuck and one of the most entertaining rides you can have today.
t. have 0 experience with 70s italian cinema
But watch both, really. Original first and then check out the remake and see what you think of it
of course it stands up
if it didn't they wouldn't have dug it up to milk it some more with that cashgrab
watch inferno instead. it is better.
Ok im gonna watch the original then
THREAD OVER
The so-called remake is garbage, pointlessly long with too much focus on a irrelevant historical and political setting, and the cinematography is drab and disgusting, even if on purpose. The climax is this CGI spectacle that basically has a giant digital red filter over everything and makes your eyes hurt. The only thing it does better than the original is actually having dance sequences in a ballet academy, but once again, ruins it all by focusing on Tilda Swinton's old-man character who should have just been cut out of the film entirely.
I'd suggest watching the remake, then if you enjoy it going back to the original.
I wasn't keen on the original personally, I don't think it's aged well at all.
The remake is fantastic, but has some extraneous plot points which weren't in the original and weren't needed in the remake either.
the shorter one.
and them look for pictures of mia goth beautiful tits.
Watch the original if you like low budget but genuinely good horror kino.
Watch the remake if you like jew propaganda.
>Suspiria (2018)
>a cashgrab
I don't think you know what that means.
Original is colorful but eerie and a self contained story, the new one drags on with a side focus on the historical context plus the soundtrack doesn't fit the mood at all.
That ritual scene at the end pissed me the fuck off. That was obviously a centerpiece for the film that got chopped up because the director pussied out.

Not so fast! There are basically 2 bluray masters available (Italain and American release), and they both look entirely different. Italian is more earthy and has more color variability, but has a green tint throughout and the whites aren't correct. American release is digitally graded shot-by-shot, and really looks overblown in some shots, and the color palette is reduced. But some would say it's the more accurate version (and the whites are more accurate).

>the cinematography is drab and disgusting, even if on purpose
I dunno how the fuck you could think this. I love those locked down wide angles that give the actors room to perform and the longer takes so it doesn't feel like the acting is faked through editing where it's one to two second clips from the best takes stitched together with varying consistency in continuity. That and the film look with the wide aspect ratio and grain combined with the period setting was extremely immersive. I feel like you usually enjoy gaudy Marvel films.
Watch the original obviously because it's about a million times better, but they're both worthwhile. The remake is almost entirely divorced from the original aesthetically and thematically.
>soulless remakes
Somebody hasn't watched the new one
watch the first one and then hate the other for not being the first one
>if you don't have any experience watching 70s italian cinema you won't enjoy it. watch the remake instead.
Kill yourself you fucking pleb. It was literally the first Italian film I ever saw and I loved it.
some things in the remake are better but you'll only appreciate it if you're familiar with the original so you can actually tell how they improved things. the original is still good and worth the watch though
I watched it without prior experience and it was ok.
The pacing was pleasant, ok music, lead character looks like Karen Allen but cuter.
Which one?
bottom. the movie is gorgeous as it, no need to color correct it
people who say new suspiria is shit are dumb
Both films are great
DIfferent enough from each other that they kind of each stand on there own
OG is better but new one is definitley worth a watch too
> color correct
That's the thing, no one can agree one how it originally looked, even people originally involved in the production. Wasn't Suspiria originally strikingly blue? Then why isn't the TLE blue?
You're dumb as shit because you clearly didn't even understand OP's question.
OP Already decided to watch the OG movie I'm just making sure he doesn't decide to skip the new one
I understand the question it's just been answered tenfold
Childhood is idolizing Suspiria. Adulthood is realizing Hausu did it better.
>I'm going to watch both in the end
Dumb as shit.
What the fuck kind of a pleb would ever watch a remake of anything, with the sole exception of John Carpenter's The Thing which is technically a remake of some 1950's movie nobody has seen and is always brought up as the exception to the "remakes are always trash" rule?
but then OP said he's going to watch the original THREAD OVER in a reply to a post saying remake is shit
The remake isn't really that similar, it's also an inferior movie in every way.
the colors in the film were very vivid and would change depending on character if i remember correctly
>DUDE COLORS LMAO
The Fly and The Blob are also excellent horror remakes
The remake was boring as fuck. I'm not even sure what happened in it since I fast forwarded through tons of it seeing if anything cool would happen.
>remake a massively influential and memorable horror classic
>not a cash grab
horrendous advice
