Every live-action Disney movie has outperformed the last and the most recent one grossed $1.2 billion. Godzilla (2014) only made $529 million and was beaten by Maleficent five years go. Aladdin was the second most popular movie of the Disney Renaissance and the first full trailer has received a warm reception. Not looking good for Godzilla.

Initially I was very excited about Aladdin, and I didn't even know there was another Godzilla coming out. But Aladdin looks like a real piece of shit movie, so Godzilla will probably be better.

Honestly Aladdin looks quite inoffensive, but won't probably deserve from a quality point of view the billions it will make.

Kong is the best film in the franchise so far, and considering he doesn't have to watch 20 movies to catch up like someone who's interested in watching Infinity Wars, I think it's worth sitting through.

As of now there's nothing concrete suggesting audience exhaustion. With the exception of Cinderella in 2015 (which was an anomaly), each adaptation made more money than the previous one. If Aladdin disappoints it might hurt The Lion King later this year. But it looks like a crowd pleaser based on the latest trailer.

There was a lot more hype for the first movie and word of mouth killed it. 2014 only barely broke even. I'm thinking things will be reversed this time around. It'll have a smaller opening but its legs will carry it farther.

I liked the roar in theaters. The earthquake seats were real.

It's far better than that and definitely got things started with no problems even if future movies will overshadow it it's already really nicely shot.

I think Godzilla will get middling reviews at best but Aladdin could get slaughtered by critics. If this happens Godzilla will win overall but Aladdin will still make some money because mouse logo and "member the 90s"

Aladdin 13 million after 1 month. Overwhelming difference.
On the other hand Aladdin is divisive 84k vs 38k it's weird for a Disney movie. Meanwhile Godzilla has 334k likes and almonst no dislikes. Detecrive Pikachu has comparably similar number of views as Aladdin and a much better response. These numbers don't look encouraging for Godzilla.

I'm calculating views and time of release right now and Godzilla generated bigger interest than How to Train your Dragon 3 at least on youtube so it's a matter of competition. Pikachu seems to be the most popular trailer on the internet but I didn't care to count Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel even less popular than Aladdin. Second Godzilla trailer generated slightly more buzz but not much. I don't think Pikachu will affect Godzilla that much but Pokemon will be top 3 of the entire year probably.
