What is the best musical movie?
What is the best musical movie?
The Blues Brothers
Singin' In The Rain or The Sound of Music
This was pretty good, love the jazzy arrangements
youtube.com
The HD version looks gorgeous too
Fantasia (1940)
Sound of music is too gay
Moulin Rouge was missing something, it felt a bit, bland..?
There's also that one where theyre on a train, idk what its called but it was good
I generally prefer acapella performances
Also, there's a whole genre in spanish where you have country singers battle it out with songs throughout the movie, they're kinda neat and different
I don't know about the greatest musical movie but "One day more" from les miserables (not the movie ofcourse) is probably the most kino musical song ever. All those voices singing at one another when it peaks.
How is it gay lmao?
not a poo, but this is easily the best modern musical
Moonlight
Phantom of the paradise.
Shit I meant La La Land
FEED ME SEYMOUR
FEED ME ALL NIGHT LONG
THATS RIGHT BOI
Phantom of the Paradise, Rocky Horror, Shock Treatment, Little Shop of Horrors, Sweeney Todd
Special mentions to Return of Captain Invincible and Repo!
Jesus Christ Superstar (the 73 version)

If was 70's wonderful weird.
While everyone does a great job, Carl Anderson is a great singer as Judas. I really did enjoy it.
>Tell me what you think about your friends at the top
>Who'd you think, besides yourself, was the pick of the crop?
>Buddha, was he where it's at? Is he where you are?
>Could Mohamed move a mountain, or was that just PR?
>Did you mean to die like that? Was that a mistake, or Did you know your messy death would be a record-breaker?
>Don't you get me wrong - I only wanna know...
This but unironically.
Patrician's choice.
Little Shop was the first thing I thought of and I can't believe this is the only person with good enough taste to mention it.
Read the post literally one above that one, dimwit
I have the initial DVD release which contained the black-and-white original ending on the extras. Was pulled from shelves pretty quickly, so most of them that were out there were expensive. Yet I found one for $15 on eBay, a real catch.
The original release is now on the blu ray releases and looks great. I wish they had cut down some of the 'Don't Feed the Plants' sequence however.
Meh, ctrl + F little shop is what I did faggot. You think I'm going to spend time reading every post?
Fpbp
Any other answer is just being a try-hard
What's the original ending?
MAKE EM LAUGH
MAKE EM LAUGH
If you're watching the 'happily ever after' ending, you're doing it wrong.
Audrey dies, Seymour runs to the top of a building to commit suicide. That's when the guy comes up saying that they're going to sell clippings of the plant. Seymour runs back down, cue Mean Green Mother. Building falls, but the plant grabs Seymour and eats him alive in a great-looking sequence. Then a montage of huge Audrey II's destroying the world kaiju-style. Close in on one atop the Statue of Liberty with the text 'The End?!' overlaid.
The Plant eats Audrey and succeeds in taking over New York and in the last scene Seymour enters it's mouth willingly (aka. killing himself)
Huh, that's pretty retarded. Glad they changed it.
He doesn't enter the plant willingly.
I dunno, the story takes on an entirely different meaning with the 'happily ever after' ending. That is, the end justifies the means, as long as you can stamp out the problems you've created somehow. The original meaning was that greed overwhelms you and devours you. Look up the ending, it's on YouTube. Plus it's a neat homage to films like The Ants etc that were coming out when the 60s little shop did.
Jesus Christ.
I still love Chicago

Sound of Music
Edelweis forever best song.
Grease because it has the best songs or Jersey boys.
Sweeney had bad songs that all sounded the same.
The Music Man.
Grease
Not even joking
Not even the best Bee Gees movie.
Prob Rocky Horror. Maybe one of the more vintage ones, both My Fair Lady and Oliver! are good. Burton's Sweeney Todd was depressingly mediocre though, he fucking cut out half of the "A Little Priest", literally what was he thinking?
Sweeney Todd has great songs, Tim Burton’s nepotistic hires just can’t sing.
Sweeney has one of the most iconic song line-ups in the history of the genre, you fuck. It's literally a roller coaster of absolutely amazing different songs. Johnny Depp is a fuck and Helena is shit-tier at singing, but the material is gold.
This is true. My first experience with it was the stage version where the actors were also the musicians, and that was probably the best live musical I've ever watched
Probably but the ones in the movie suck dick.
Unironically Amadeus.
Yeah, that’s the problem. Really missed an opportunity to make a great musical movie.
Gentlemen
I have an announcement to make
FUCK BEADLE
FUCK PIRELLI
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY
FUCK JUDGE TURPIN
