The Witch should be no. 1

Son of Frankenstein is underrated.

No it shouldn't

i disagree with most of that list. also, they should differ between certain horror genres. The Thing, Rosemarie's Baby, 28 days later, Audition, Poltergeist, it's really hard judging all those movies the same way and putting them in one list.

>did my six years and got the fuck out
Hopefully that 1LT is like me and just a jackass suckered into it. I almost got my bars taken away more than once for general ineptitude (willful or not, you can debate) and poor soldiering.

>The Babadook even there

If you pick the right MOS and get lucky with assignments it can be a picnic. Third time in Korea here in 8 years

>50. It Follows (2014, USA)
Stopped reading right there.

Shaun of the Dead is not horror, its not meant to be scary in the slightest.

You could do that but it isn't that big of a deal honestly.

The Dragonzord sound is scary AF

It's a Comedy Horror, it's a thing

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_comedy_horror_films

I know that my point is the horror in Shaun of the Dead isn't scary, creepy or disturbing. What makes it good is the comedy bits, if all comedy horror apply why isn't something like Ghostbusters on the list?

It is, comedy is first for a reason. Many movies have horror elements. You could list Sicario as a horror movie if you wanted to.

All it takes to be horror these days if having a supernatural element, it seems.

It's a movie about a zombie apocalypse and a group of survivors trying to remain safe. That's straight up horror.

no. 1 of the decade but certainly not of all time

>Shaun of the Dead being on this list
>In the top twenty no less

I love the movie but come the fuck on

Horror = Horrifying. Elements intended to disturb the viewer either through discomfort or fear. Now anything with a zombie, a witch or a werewolf is "horror".

>jaws and halloween better than the shining

lmao

>Psycho
>Halloween
>Rosemary's Baby
>The Shining
>Scream

holy shit some of these are bad choices.

>ctrl+f
>no Hereditary
Fake list.

I was a liberal arts major, so my options were rather limited. My issue was being ROTC at one of the SMCs, so I was fast-tracked through everything.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_senior_military_college
I had fun, though, here and there. With the non-commissioned types, at least. I felt bad for the enlisted so I didn't bother them much, but I antagonized a handful of NCOs as best I could. One in particular who has yet to accept my friend request on Facebook or my request to connect on Linkedin.

The day I got RiFed was the best day of my life. I was not eligible for separation pay.

>I wanted an excuse to basedpost

No, I just think psychological horror and slasher movies are shit.

this

Where is Silence of the Lambs?

Pretty good list.
They have included the wicker man and evil Dead so I'm happy

babadook is overrated trash. so is cabin in the woods.
im surprised that Ju-on, the ring, the wailing aren't on the list but put comedies in there. good list for the most part but it's pretty flawed.

I wouldn’t even call Mulholland Drive a horror movie. It’s a noir movie with one big scare in it. Sunset Boulevard in a noir that has more consistent horror element throughout it than, Mulholland Drive (not that I’d call that a horror movie either).

>Mulholland Dr.
>horror

>no Possession

Attached: Possession-film.jpg (804x483, 135K)

I'm just glad they included Carnival of Souls

Nice job exposing yourself, pleb

>no Hereditary

ait cool list bruh

>It Follows
>Evil Dead
>The Orphanage
>The Witch
>Pulse
>The Descent
>Rec
>Babadook
>Cabin in the Woods
Awful list.

>no Jacob's Ladder

one of those are good. ill let you figure out which

>no inland empire

DROPPED

yeah some of these films (mulholland drive?), while good, are a stretch to call horror. i would think silence of the lambs would fit this elastic definition, and given that its better than most of the films on the list, i would think it would rank pretty high up

>That dude that blew $700 in a whore house in Cologne using his government travel card and tried to appeal his punishment

Yea nothing in life is a big deal so why bother just play apex and eat candy lol

>no Eraserhead
>no Videodrome
>no House
>no Audition
>no The Vanishing
>no Braindead
>no Inland Empire
>no Cure
>no Nosferatu the Vampire
>no Dead Ringers
>no Tetsuo the Iron Man

Attached: 140728.jpg (567x319, 31K)

>anyone caring if you're in the barracks at any certain time
Lol wtf is that about? Nobody ever gave a shit as long as you were at formation.

Pure retardation.

This, it should be higher.

mfw one of the undisputed masterpieces of horror is left off the list

Attached: carrie-1976-horror-film.jpg (1440x960, 284K)

Evil Dead remake over the original?

Audition is one there

>lets put evil dead and then the remake of the evil dead no one remebers from the 2010s

if you are going to put a remake on that shit you got to put 1970s invasion of the body snatchers

the other two I'm particularly upset about are Cat People and Vampyr

>psychological horror is shit

its literally the best form of horror, I mean what else is there? Muh jumpscares and bodyhorror?

more like psychological thriller than a horror film

Jumpscares are a tool that's being abused, there's nothing implicitly wrong with them, body horror is the best kind of horror because it plays upon a primal fear of all living creatures: corruption of the flesh

I'm surprised Get Out wasn't memed in. Kinda mad the babadook made it, I'm almost certain that movie won't be there if they remade the list in another 5 years.

Take out shaun of the dead and put in brain dead

the actual zombie comedy kino

anyone else hate the term "psychological horror"? i like a lot of films that would be classified as psychological, i just think that that term has become a catch-all bullshit phrase over the years
I honestly do not think there is an objective answer. I personally classify it as a "thriller", but I would not dispute someone who said it was a horror film

it's basically the "graphic novel" of horror flicks

>6. The Shining (1980, USA)
how can anyone actually be scared by this movie? were people legitimately retarded back in the day? how was this scene scary? how did people watch this and not think it was horrible?
youtu.be/CMbI7DmLCNI?t=21s

>Horror movies have to be scary

Attached: 1551095853371.jpg (796x960, 34K)

I think the term is used more to mean it effects you on a subconscious level, so a psychological horror, rather than just spooking you with a few jumpscares truly scares you on a more intimate level for some time.

1. The Thing (1982, USA)
based

Attached: 1543267647872.jpg (1000x800, 81K)

>truly scares you on a more intimate level for some time.
how does the movie do that?

its one of those movies you have to watch in full, a lot of building up

>were people legitimately retarded back in the day?

the movie actually bombed in 1980 and only as time went on as it been seen as a classic

I don't know, its like asking why you find a joke funny, human emotions aren't always able to be clearly explained.

my guess would be by triggering phobias, which pretty much any genre of film can

> Phantasm nowhere on the list.

It's shit.

Protip: Scary movies being scary are only a kid thing.

Yeah there's psychological horror that might cause a stir mentally but in general it's true. It's not why people love them.

A better term would be "mundane hororr" These are stories that are horrifying but set in the context of actual reality (serial killers, kidnappings, cannibals, etc) rather than super natural forces or aliens and fantastical shit

>Scary movies being scary are only a kid thing
ah ok I get it now. Adult scary movies arent scary.
what the fuck are you talking about you fucking moron

literally only women like jumpscare shit and they it always spooks them

but the shining is supposedly part of that category and has supernatural themes (though they are very stayed)

>no hammer movies

Attached: peter-cushing-600-b.jpg (600x368, 16K)

and thats why its called psychological horror. those supernatural forces were happening only in the head of a man going insane

literally none of the movies in your post are slashers

>Halloween
>Scream
>not slasher

sounds like the officier had irish heritage

but thats not what happened at all, multiple people had it and even some prophetic nigger told the kid about it

Not a bad list, but very US film heavy. Limited UK movies, although many of the films have UK directors, and almost no Asian. Come on, Ringu guys.

that's a big caca

Massagey boom boom hahahaha

false it's Get Out
rottentomatoes.com/top/bestofrt/top_100_horror_movies/

RT compiles ALL THE reviews, meaning it's the definite list.

Good list but they fucked tge top 5

1. The Shining
2. The Haunting
3. The Ring
4. Jaws
5. The babadook

Props for them making Jaws top 5 at least

>no Return of the Living Dead
