Director Brian De Palma is prepping a new horror movie, Predator, inspired by the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Deadline reports.
De Palma recently teased the project during a press tour in France for his new book, Are Snakes Necessary? He described the project as “a horror film, with a sexual aggressor,” adding it would take place “within the context of sexual harassment in Hollywood.” Predator is expected to shoot in Toronto, with the Toronto Film Festival reportedly serving as the backdrop for the action and intrigue.
Following De Palma’s comments, producer Saïd Ben Saïd confirmed the project and its title, but noted production wouldn’t begin for another year. Saïd will produce Predator with his partner, Michael Merkt. Saïd previously produced De Palma’s 2012 movie, Passion. De Palma’s next film, Domino, is scheduled for release this year.

I cannot begin to even conceptualize what this actually means

When do we get a Predator movie where the Predator wins?

They will never repeat the first Predator's success even if they realize what exactly made it good. Its gimmick could work only once.

>with the Toronto Film Festival reportedly serving as the backdrop for the action and intrigue I haven’t gone to TIFF in years and this doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. They were supposed to be for promoting independent filmmaking but now they’re just a propaganda outlet to spread Hollywood cancer into Canada. Fuck them.

Mission Impossible 6 was fucking amazing, but he had nothing to do with it.

Wouldn't this make more sense as an Alien film?

I watched the Netflix doc. For me he was always the 'that guy' director. Like every now and then id see a classic kino with his name attached and then he'd just disappear and you'd see the usual Scorses, Camerons etc.
Seems like a pretty based guy. Pissed off feminists and pissed off Ameriboos. Shame a bunch of his stuff bombed, most of the movies that were covered, id never heard of for that same reason.

I'm actually surprised the thread turned into a discussion about those films, I thought people would notice the Weinstein thing first.
Lucas Cox
He has a documentary on Netflix? Seems like a strange subject to choose.

Yes its pretty good biographical. Long doco which goes over all his work. My only complaint is that they dont share too many epic stories from the big ones like Scarface or Carlito's Way. Although i guess that belongs to a doco focusing on those movies themselves.

Well, around here we usually just post "Bane?" or "Sneed". That really tickles the ol' funny bone. I'd recommend sticking with one of those.

A well crafted greentext. Ones that suddenly take a dark or absurd turn from the mundane or lead the reader on until pulling the rug from under them with the very last line are good ones.
