The issue here is that Arya's sword can withstand the blows from what looks to be a bastard's sword

That isn't necessarily how swordfighting works. There are methods which utilize body momentum and don't require any significant arm strength.

It shows the cruelty of life in how people treat each other like means to an end, and the end for him was to die in a slum by cowards in masks.
