>Saindon recalls being on a conference call after the trailer had been released and the internet exploded with discussion around the validity of Alita's eyes. "In the next call we had with Robert (Rodriguez) and Jim (Cameron), no one wanted to say anything. Finally I just said, 'hey, so are we doing anything about the eyes?' There was a lot of discussion. >We asked if they (Rodriguez & Cameron) wanted us to try something? And, Jim pretty much just said, (and excuse the swearing)... but Jim said, 'fuck the haters'. And he said, ‘we're going to go bigger with the eyes - that's what's going to fix it.’”
If senile means the greatest boomer to have ever lived then YES he is SENILE
Jason Myers
he knew the audience for this 20-year passion project was already niche. he got the marketing team's feedback and said, "nah, go watch your own normie movies. make the eyes bigger."
i cannot understand how so much unadulterated based exists within one single person.
Angel Bailey
never understood the retarded msm fixation with alita's eyes: is like they just wanted to hate the movie and agreed in some random bullshit reason
Xavier Perry
Be ready to say Avatar 3: A Netflix Original
Xavier Morales
not senile, just based
Bentley Myers
This was honestly the best choice. The early eyes hit the uncanny valley too closely. Trust the man who's been to the deepest place on earth
Austin Thomas
OPs anus?
Luis Lopez
James Cameron is so rich at this point that he can afford giving absolutely zero fucks and can make any passion project he wants, with as niche an audience as one can imagine, and STILL get it to break even at the very least without going back on any creative decisions or (in this case) doubling down on them If this isn't the definition of a based director I don't know what the fuck is
Charles Green
>cuckmeron Who cares about this old soi cuck. He never did anything as good as T1.
David Adams
her eyes are so ugly, I cannot watch this flick
Benjamin Lopez
Wait, did they make them bigger? It looked super uncanny at first, and I thought they made them smaller or something. I mean it still stands out, but it looked way better in theaters compared to the trailers.
Eyes needed to be closer together and they needed to make her nose smaller and upturned.
Eli Morgan
Dat bitch ugly
David Jackson
>Jim said, 'fuck the haters'. And he said, ‘we're going to go bigger with the eyes Absolutely based.
Chase Carter
FUCK THE HATERS
Jonathan Powell
I haven't read something that based in a LONG while. Thanks OP, gonna go and watch Alita one more time to celebrate.
Adam Gutierrez
>but Jim said, 'fuck the haters'. And he said, ‘we're going to go bigger with the eyes - that's what's going to fix it.’” Greatest hero in the movie business
You made me do this: James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is James Cameron!
Joshua Ramirez
RIP jwow
Austin Garcia
Seriously. The eyes are always weird and yet I never care. The film works on the heart and spirit level. It eats a fat dick at the brain level.
God I wish there was a sequel.
Caleb Gonzalez
If you read the article, they go on to say that he was referring to the iris/ pupil, which is exactly what helped make it look less jarring in motion
No amount of eye correction could fix this shitfest movie. Id watch it over CM again but thats not saying much.
Wyatt Gray
I should actually watch it, it might just cure your cynicism.
Alexander Perry
Yeah you should watch it. Take of your waifu blinders though.
Nolan Bennett
Good thing he didn't cave because even if it was jarring at first, I think it worked for her character and even endeared me to her even more.
Julian Anderson
Only hurting yourself by not seeing it.
Austin Perry
The actress is over 30 and if she was played by a human it would be unremarkable. Also Jim may have had a vision that there won't be any sequel before a decade or more has passed.
Owen Reed
he already watched it, fuckface I saw it too, and he's 100% right, it's better than Marvel, but not by much they should've gotten Moner
Brandon Hughes
Sure you did, I believe you, honest.
But really you should go see it, you'd probably love it.
The absolute based-man I had my doubts when watching the trailer, but once i was in the theater watching the movie, the eyes were not a distraction at all. fuck the haters
Robert Howard
imagine plucking out her eyeball and fucking her massive eye hole while your ballsac pounds her other one do you think she gives good butterfly kisses?
Daniel Cruz
>never understood the retarded msm fixation with alita's eyes Allow me to explain it for you: it makes the character look fucking retarded. >b-but muh accuracy to the source material No one cares.
Carson Johnson
More or less this, you get in there they look a little off at first and then they just become totally normal within five to ten minutes.
>Makes her look retarded Objectively wrong. Not sure how you managed that since it's supposed to be an opinion but you Marvel drones always find new ways to amaze lmao
Nicholas Nelson
>they should've gotten Moner She's a meme and can't act for sht. She was atrocious in Sicario DOTS. And Alita was never meant to be a latina.
Chase Russell
BASED
Blake Cox
even worse, it's not accurate to the source material at all, it's a profound misinterpretation of the source material Alita is a perfectly mediocre blockbuster, but it is one of the worst adaptations of all time
Joshua Bell
Reminds me of the deadite Linda dance from Evil Dead 2.
Jason Lee
>b-but muh accuracy to the source material Not a thing. The only thing connecting to the big eyes is that it was from Chinese cartoons. In the manga her eyes aren't any bigger than the other characters, it's in fact her lips being the defining part. In the anime, again, her eyes aren't any bigger than the other characters.
The fact is James wanted to experiment with something that hasn't been done in a mainstream movie, ignored the warnings, and it definitely paid off, despite your fixation on it.
Zachary Turner
You are wrong and stupid, faggot. It was never supposed to be a shot for shot, concept for concept remake. You'd know that if you actually watched films from time to time. It's called adaptation for a reason. What the fuck are they feeding you burgers that makes you so fucking dumb?
>paid off Yeah in Avatar. This movie MIGHT break 500m over spring break but this is kind of a dissapointment right now
Nolan Ramirez
>Crypto frogposter Every single time
Ryder Green
I'm glad it wasn't shot for shot, because the anime was pretty shit, honestly.
Old anime like that has find memories with nerds because it was the only shit we could get our hands on during the sharing-of-copied-fuzzy-vhs-tapes era of anime. Even then it rarely made it in anyone's top lists because it was seen as a mediocre ova at best.
I hadn't seen it since my childhood and after seeing this movie I looked it up to watch it again and realized just how bad it was.
This is one of the uncommon cases of the adaptation being much better than the original
Colton Murphy
Agreed, but I'm pretty sure the mental midget I was replying to also meant the manga as well.
Nathan Russell
I love how the goal post kept moving. What are we at now? 500? Ok, I'll wait you see what the new goal is when we reach that.
Carter Reed
True. I can't speak for that because I never read the manga.
Eli Garcia
Im not even trying to tout the box office numbers. I also would love to see what happens at 500mill in those Alita threads >OK NOW IF WE ALL JUST BUY 10 COPIES OF THE BLURAY THEN THEY MIGHT BE MORE INCLINED TO GIVE US A SEQUEL
Kayden Edwards
user, Are you unaware that Alita Battle Angel requires at least 6 star systems worth of sentient life as well as 8 quintillion autism credits just to scrape by or are you just in denial?
Juan Gray
Well, he was right in the sense that the eyes did look better on the later trailers. But, as a whole, I don't think Alita would have been any bigger even if they'd gone with regular sized eyes.
Elijah Diaz
In this case, it worked out. James Cameron is a genius. Some directors are autists however and should not be given total reign over their own films, for the sake of the work. Tarantino, Lucas, Stone, off the top of my head.
Evan Perez
Oh yeah looks heaps good Jim! Lol fucking fag
Matthew Morris
>million generals waifufagging Alita He must have done something right
Making the eyes even bigger probably took Alita out of the uncanny valley.
I hope Cameron gets the Avatars made soon, and I genuinely hope they're good. He's made amazing stuff in the past, but every creator gets to a point where they lose it -whether it's simply age and senility, or they're no longer part of the zeitgeist. Cameron is 64 now. How many people keep their momentum up during their 70's?
Because she's supposed to look otherworldly Because SPOILERS she actually is from an entirely different world.
Levi Allen
About as senile as Scott, so not at all.
Henry Torres
HOW?! HOW CAN HE BE SO BASED??!
HOW CAN HE COMBINE HARD SCI-FI WITH MAINSTREAM APPEAL AND CUTTING EDGE FILMING TECHNOLOGY YET STILL HAVE EVERY ONE OVERFLOW WITH SOUL?! IT'S NOT POSSIBLE, IT DEFIES ALL LOGIC TO BE THIS BASED!!
Well my dude Alita is a cyborg with a fully robotic body. The CGI was essential for the rest of her, and it would have looked very odd to have a live action face on a full CGI body. The motion capture CGI technology used in this movie look amazing. It fully captured the actress' expressive face. Aside from being Cameron's passion project, this movie was surely a test bed for the tech that will be used for the Avatar sequels.
Carter Jones
>they should've gotten Moner Fuck that. Rosa's performance is what made Alita so great as a character. I don't think anyone could have done a better job. Plus she has a qt voice.
Jack Jones
THE BRAVEST PIONEER
Grayson Rivera
can targeting the autism demographic be called "right" though?
Brayden Russell
>it would have looked very odd to have a live action face on a full CGI body
That's how they did literally every other character.
Levi Anderson
This. She's as good an actress as her political beliefs are retarded.
Brayden Edwards
It's not just channel. It's everywhere. He struck a nerve with the movie, that's for sure.
Hunter Butler
Yeah and they didn't look nearly as good as Alita in my opinion. I wasn't a fan of the human faces patched onto to robots look. They looked unfinished.
Josiah Jackson
Based Jim dabbing on everyone
Lincoln Sullivan
Keep the vinegar away because this fucker's based!
Nicholas Watson
why do you even know her politics? i swear to christ you people make life difficult for yourselves
Jason Parker
It was posted here several times. It didn't influence the movie, so I don't care much. Watched it multiple times because it itself wasn't considerably political.
Lincoln Sullivan
Not liking big wet orange daddy is not something you can simply overlook, friend
Joseph Reyes
On the other hand, it might not have flopped.
Tyler Harris
It was highly political. It's just that the politics were included subtly.
