ITT: Dumbass things people say about movies. I'll start.
>sequel has a few similar plot points as the original
>"it's a remake of the original/the same exact movie"
>remake is too similar to the original
>remake is too different from the original
>It's just a hero's journey trope
A New Hope and The Force Awakens is exactly the same beat for beat, these aren't just "similarities". this is the reason they hired jj abrams to direct it, the producers knew he would bring an easy to digest, formulaic and familiar story for the fans in order to reboot the franchise. it's technically not a sequel trilogy because they've essentially just started teh franchise from scratch. star wars sucks anyway so who cares

Add
>people who have a "top list"
to that
absolutely nothing wrong with kubrick or 2001. are we just supposed to not like good movies to appease your sentimentality? they're ranked high for a good reason you utter pleb
>people who say "it was boring" is not a valid criticism
>I'm pregnant

Based Kermode
>that movie was so good and scary, i jumped like 20 times!
That's just shitposting. No one actually believes that.
I can see looking down on Aronofsky or Taranmemeo, but Kubrick, Snyder and Villeneuve are legitimate auteurs
>People who have no foreign language movies listed
This is what people who only speak one language do to try and seem cultured
>High Fantasy movie of any variety in an even vaguely Medieval-like setting
>"It's just some rip-off of Lord of the Rings..."
Fucking seriously.
I heard it endlessly in 2011 with Game of Thrones and now I am hearing it again with The Witcher, etc.
It's dumb, but any one shitting on GoT is good in my books
>I'm cool because I hate this popular thing
Would be a valid deflection if GoT wasn't legitimately shit
ah-bluh-BLUUUUHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHERE'S MY ARC PAULIE?
>it's not a movie, it's an experience
it isn't tho
Based
>it defines a generation
>the film is considered "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant by the U.S. Library of Congress and was selected to be preserved in the National Film Registry in [year]
>film is boring
>film is pretentious
bump
>The setting is too depressing
>The characters aren't fun
Yeah no shit the setting is depressing if it is trying to tell a message about a certain aspect of life and as a result the characters aren't "fun" because they have to live in this shit hole. The inverse also pisses me off, there is nothing wrong with an intentionally cheesy movie.
>I just want to turn my brain off
>good cinematography
Translation: mediocre shots with contrasting unnatural colours and dark moody filters
Actual legitimate good cinematography should be praised, but I agree that it's used wrong all the time.
I remember my friend said TLJ had great cinematography. The word has come to mean 'it looks like a shot I could use as a pc wallpaper' or like it comes from the pages of a manga.
Where can i watch this kino?
>Dumbass things people say about movies.
"I liked this move better the first time when it was called (insert movie name)."
>people who post frogs and expect to be taken seriously
