I liked it because it was the same as 5 Centimeters Per Second but with a better story, characters, animation, art and ending.

It was shit. No amount of art style can cover the abhorrent dialogue/internal monologue/worst composing to date/contrived story.
I'll admit, there was a few funny scenes here and there, but all in all, it was bad. The characters felt like they were based on the scribbles of a highschooler.
As is customary, Oscars gloss over the more competent films of the year and laud sub-par drivel.
