Imagine sitting in the theater with your family and you're about to watch the sequel. Everyone universally loved the first one. You're excited. It starts out with a cool Trinity scene, and then introduces a whole gaggle of characters that you don't give a shit about. The council of bad actors and then the annoying skinny kid. More new charcaters you don't give a shit about. Where's the cool stuff? Zion rave scene. What the fuck? Okay now Neo is sparring with some Asian guy. No stakes. When does the movie start? AND THERE'S A NEW ORACLE? What the hell is this? And finally...
The fight between Neo and a bunch of CGI Agent Smith's. No stakes. Neo's doing fine. And IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT.
It dropped the ball. The movie ended up okay in the end, but it lost people before it was even halfway over. And Revolutions just kinda gets piled in with Reloaded.
