MY KID COULDA BEEN KILLED

who was in the wrong here?

Why is that dude in Mark Kermode's face?

Lars. It's always Lars.

NAPSTER!!!!!!!

HE FUCKING LEFT THE BAND

Looks like he skipped arm and shoulders and everything else day.

James

he was always a control freak and then he turned into a pussified control freak

ITS FUCKING STOCK

this is unironically the best documentary of all time

MY LIFESTYLE

>the therapist
>Lars's art collection
>Lars's dad
>Lars's depression when seeing Jason's new band
>Kirk just wanting mommy and daddy to stop fighting
>James abandoning his family to go hunting in Russia
>Bob Rock so obviously wishing they would ask him to be their bass player but they never do
>Dave Mustaine

>Dave Mustaine
was the best and most hilarious part.

>James being shocked that radio might not play their shitty new music unless they record the commercial for them

what documentary

this one

metallicas "some kind of monster"

it sucks

i will watch it and report what I thought. thanks

holy shit you must be fun at a party

>they want therapisht to leave
>he won't
>insist on touring with them
>even write lyrics for them

Lol

huh

James comes off as such a salty little bitch in this.

the metalocalypse parody of their therapist is even funnier.

youtube.com/watch?v=1F73Voy6wwE

cast him

Lars was in the wrong. If Lars had never been born Metallica would have some other drummer and it would be almost exactly the same. If James had never been born Lars would be working as a tennis coach at a country club making $30k a year helping rich house wives with their serve.

We're off to Never Neverland

I WAS STRAIGHT UP WITH YOU MAN!

Lars helped write the songs tho

>Lars's depression when seeing Jason's new band
I don't know why was Lars threatened by his band. It was pretty shitty.

For a second I thought Lars had his hand on James' lap.

because Jason was having FUN playing music with a shitty band and shitty club
and it made him happier than having 500 Basquiats

All of them because instead of being a hard core heavy metal band they had to call in a fucking psychiatrist, like they were married and get counseling because they were such fags and couldn't handle each others drama. When that documentary about their therapy came out is when I stopped being a fan. Lost all respect for them as humans because that was the gayest shit I ever seen from a bunch of dudes that were supposed to be hardcore.

Everyone except Lars' dad

He said it was shit and no one listened

based

Making and releasing that doc was the most respectable and hardcore thing they've ever done in public knowledge.

TICK
TOCK
TICK
TOCK

He wasn't threatened, he was jelly that Jason was having fun making new music, while he was in a dysfunctional dinosaur band.

>dudes that were supposed to be hardcore
This is the most adolescent thing posted on Yea Forums right now, and that's saying something.

Man I used to love Metallica but I'm glad I stopped listening to them.

>Loved the first 4 albums as a kid in the late 80's early 90's
>didn't mind the Black Album when it came out despite all the shit it got from fans
>should've listened
>Load/Reload come out
>ask 'what the fuck happened?' and "how come they went soft?"
>move on to far better metal
>a new album is announced
>hype from everyone is unreal
>be hesitant
>the band does interviews saying "We're going back to our early sound"
>St. Anger single debuts on the radio
>hear it
>don't even finish the song
>turn it off
>never bother hearing the rest of the album or anything they put out since
>ffw to 3 days ago
>youtube recommends For Whom The Bell Tolls out of the blue
>give it a play
>immediately get hype when I hear the bell
>then become sad
Goddamn...
youtube.com/watch?v=eeqGuaAl6Ic

[F]

They actually tried to recover the sound on Death Magnetic but it just didn't work

For whatever reason they forgot how to write good thrash after the 80s. Hell, after Master of Puppets even

>It was pretty shitty.
Still waaaay better than St. Anger, or any post-Black albums.

I'd say the new bassist guy is also blameless.
He's just there for the paycheck because he knows full well the band is never gonna allow a bassist that isn't a reanimated Cliff Burton to contribute in any meaningful way. And its not like there is anything he could do to fix the dysfunction of a group that should have clearly split up 20 years prior. Might as well just play the hits, keep his head down and rake in the easy money while the other 3 bitch and flail like the primadonna divas they have become.

I don't think they really tried They say they did, but the shit they put on record is half-assed. They got so fucking big headed that they thought they could do whatever the hell they wanted and fuck the fans. This is obvious with Lars' spaghetti pot snare tone. Fucking experimenting with shit that didn't need experimenting with.

LOL remember when they sat him down and told him that he was in the band? He had that look of "Holy shit, no more living off Taco Bell dollar menu!"

youtube.com/watch?v=YRDr8LtWG0I

We're giving you a million dollars

fucking kek

I like when he's jamming alone in his tiny bedroom with a massive grin on his face knowing in just a year or two his tiny flat will be an estate. He deserved it.

Why am I required to be fun at parties

He's a fucking faggot. Those unreleased songs were actually better than most of St. Anger.

>O've, O'ven't heard someone play like that since....since Cliff

Attached: 1484696435384-DSC_8574.jpg (1500x1222, 1.1M)

In this situation, James. Don't know how anyone else can say otherwise. He got pissed because they listened to material they were working on without him being in the room.

>mfw the rest of the band are getting so sloppy they are genuinely in awe of a bassist that can play with his fingers.

Attached: kek.jpg (679x470, 55K)

Why didn't James heem Lars?

Eh everyone involved. Lars has a huge ego but so did James. And james even admitted he had been too controling when it came to his bandmates.

>I could try "Battery."
>Battery? You can play that fast with your fingers??

He was playing with Ozzy and Suicidal Tendencies, he wasn't a nobody

This.

Fucking mustaine crying pissed me off. Dude is/was a legit badass who didnt give a fuck about anything. And then he goes and pulls the "why dont they want me man" bullshit.

Fuck me that is everything bad about nuTallica in a single track

James pls go

Bob Rock was still better and should have been the bassist full time.

>No, just, "Fuck!" "Fuck." I just think you're so fucking self-absorbed. And what makes it worse is that you always talk about... You always talk about me. You use the word "control" and "manipulation" a lot. I think you control on purpose, and I think you control inadvertently. I think you control by the rules you always set. I think you control by how you always judge people. I think you control by your absence. I think you control all of this even when you're not here. I don't understand who you are. I don't understand the program. I don't understand all this stuff, okay? I realize now that I barely knew you before. And all these rules and all this shit, man, this is a fucking rock 'n' roll band. I don't want fucking rules. I understand that you need to leave at four. I respect it. But don't tell me I can't sit and listen to something with Bob at 4:15 if I want to. What the fuck is that? You know, I don't wanna end up like Jason, okay? I don't want to be pushed away. I don't want it to happen twice. Let's do it, and let's fucking do it full-on or let's not do it at all. Fuck. See? Fuck. Fuck! FUCK!

>jason's the future man, we're done!
Nobody ever gave a single fuck about Newsted's band

I thought it was good. Even if you dont like the music its a great view of watching a hugely famous and successful band almost fall apart because of personal issues.

I like it. Has a good slow/sludgecore sound to it.

they unironically didn't ask him because they didn't think he had "the look." He wasn't cool enough for a band with fucking LARS in it

wtf is this

>when he hands over some lyrics he wrote for a song they'd been working on

First time i legit got uncomfortable watching something.

Attached: 1541287725763.jpg (328x281, 36K)

Rock can't play fast at all. Imagine playing some of their early stuff while Rock plays the tonics with a pick

What could have been.
youtube.com/watch?v=PRBco6e_hYY

Because he was free and enjoying himself. I think lars thought he was going to see a sad jason who begged to come back. What he got was a jason who didnt give a fuck and was completely happy.

It wasnt just that.
James didnt even want them jamming together and coming up with stuff without him there.

Never said he was a nobody. But he definitely wasn't set for life like he was post metallica either.

I wish we got the cliff burton, dave mustaine mettalica. Could you imagine the amount of badass they would have made.

>slow/sludgecore
Confirmed for tourist who doesn't even know what Sludge is.

Load and Reload is some of their finest.

He probably made 2$ the entire time he was in suicidal tendencies. He wasnt actually in Ozzie's band.
Being actually in Metallica was a life changer.

To this day I don't consider Trujillo a REAL part of the band.

To be fair Trujillo is very underrated.

youtu.be/E40zHcRE4e0

You're joking.

Why do idiots say they "sold out" when they were more melodic than any trash band since their first album. Hetfield and Ulrich wrote hits, they couldn't help it. If you want to listen to atonal garbage then go ahead. If you consider writing good melodies "selling out" then they were phonies since 1983

lol

>He deserved it
why?

If you watch the documentary you know he never will be because the band is now just Lars and James bickering like a married couple with the occasional interruption from Kirk asking if he can put a solo in a song before being shouted down by both of them. Thats the writing process for metallica these days and doesn't leave room for a bassist.

What's a good sludgecore track?

TEMPTATION FILL THE WHOOOREE

Cos he's a damn fine bassist and seems like a decent guy. I'm ok with him getting paid silly money to play the hits of some band I stopped caring about years ago because actual talent rarely gets rewarded in the music industry.

This. They had nice instrumentation. Just needed to get fully fledged out into full songs.
youtube.com/watch?v=amhFkA_w_UA

I unironically lost my virginity while frantic played in the background while leon the professional was on the tv

They have their moments. I grew up with both of them as my introduction to Metallica and have always liked them.

Unless it was to a loli then kys

The first four albums had very few if any bad songs. Perfect thrash metal. Then Bob Rock and James' voice wearing out happened and then Black came out.

Kill em All - 8/10
...and Justice for All 10/10
Ride the Lightning 9/10
Master of Puppets 9/10

Top 5 songs in no particular order
Harvester of Sorrow
Hit the Lights
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Battery
Creeping Death

I think Lars wasn't sure about getting Rob after the auditions, luckily everyone called him on his shit. I don't know what is it with Lars and bass players. Still can't believe he's the one responsible for turning down the bass in AJFA because he was being a bitch.

>no Orion in there

Nigga neck yourself

Most of my childhood i knew Metallica as the band who all the criminal trailer park kids wore T-shirts of.
Their shit never came of the radio or on tv. I knew of Metallica for about 10 years before i ever heard a song.

have you ever listened to the cliff's 1st show bootleg? it's the only performance where cliff and dave were playing together. they fucking shredded.

Kill Em All - 8/10
Ride The Lightning - 9/10
Master Of Puppets - 8/10
...And Justice For All - 9/10
Black Album - 7/10
Load - 4/10
Reload - 5/10
St. Anger - 1/10
Death Magnetic - 6/10

Haven't heard the new one. Probably won't.

>puppets only 1 point better than black album
woof

Exactly. I still defend "All nightmare long". The newest album sucks, they left out the best song "Lords of summer" . Their first 4 albums on a replay always. Then is just some song every now and then.

>they have become
That they always were, especially Lars.

you got it right in the begining,
>loved the first 4 albums as a kid
its rock for kids, its not even good rock, its like light rock for adults. it isn't hard core it isn't metal it barley is better than nickleback or imagine dragons in todays standards.
everyone hates it now because they've grown up

It was his 40th birthday. Also it was September 13, 2001.

Rob did some real solid work with Jerry Cantrell back in the day if you're into that sort of thing

When will technology make it available to visit other timelines?

SKOM is great for the lols, but a year in a half in the life of metallica is the GOAT metallica documentary.

In time.

Anything post Jason is unlistenable trash

HE FOKIN LEFT THE BAND

An oldie but a goodie

Attached: Dusty Metallica Memes.jpg (268x320, 24K)

Is this some kind of joke? As much as you can rightfully hate on Lars: Metallicas musical direction, arrangements, style, overarching ideas/goals etc are pretty much his. Even their first amazing four albums are all in essence Lars productions. James is ridiculously integral to it all with his amazing creativity but everything you like about good Metallica albums and songs is Lars doing.
Everyone in Metallica is replacable but Lars and James: Lars is the catalyst to James's artistry

Same here... in my teens listening to Metallica was like some sort of portal into another world. A badass world. I watched that documentary in my early 20s and never cared about them since. I honestly believed it was a plot by the jews to put the final nail into everything that was masculine in my life.

I was in a deep depression all alone for 17 years afterwards. Then Donald Trump came along and restored everything in 2015. Western Civilization is finally making a come back. It hurts too much to think about Trump selling out to ZOG like a massive kike faggot.

MY LIFESTYLE
DETERMINES MY DEATHSTYLE

How can something so cringey be so kino?

yeah but then the band came together under the banner of ditching his ass, it was their first time to become united and focused on a goal

>Bob Rock so obviously wishing they would ask him to be their bass player but they never do

I felt bad for BR but he belongs in the booth and Rob is a fucking beast and was a great addition

he's not wrong

that was the catalyst to firing him, he had overstayed his welcome

Thanks for expressing your zoomer opinion, child.

Attached: images (9).jpg (224x225, 8K)

Siding with Lars here.

It would be great, but I also like Megadeth just as much or more so I am ok with how it turned out. Minus Cliff dying of course

Another cringekino: OMINOUS I-AM-IN-US

You have to understand the time. This was post-Vietnam and the height of the Cold War. There was a type of feeling and atmosphere in the country and world. Metallica was a part of that. The sound was also new. The internet was new... a lot was new.

I totally understand why people hate that a trash band named Metallica would make albums that aren't metal at all, but Load has some pretty tucking good stuff in it.
