He liked that it was a fun, clean tale of good vs. evil. He hated that autists latched on to it.

he was a ""classical"" actor who was pissy that his most well known role was what he saw as a "childish" film
>inb4 bridge over the river kwai
a huge role but most normies know him as Obi wan over Colonel Nickelson

This

There's an old interview with Mark Hamill where he mentions Guiness being one of the few people who had faith in the project.

He wrote in his diary that he found the dialogue fucking abhorrent

I guess he didn't hate it, but simply refused people acting like it was a remarkable piece of art as opposed to an entertaining flick for teenagers.

pleb taste

He didn't, and he was pissed when George killed him off unexpectedly.

he didn't, he hated the cult that swept up around it

well yeah, everyone agrees that Lucas writes the worst dialogue of all time after Tommy Wiseau

he was arrested for a lewd act in a men's room

He realised that that people obsessing over Star Wars and other "derived" works, rather than studying and learning about the primary works that Star Wars was derived from would lead to the decades of garbage writing in all forms of media that we are currently suffering through.

He was gay

This is true. Everyone thought Star Wars was going to me a trashdump. Guineas has faith and liked the idea of it,. It's when it became too popular for its own good he began to hate it.

Lucas then wife Marcia basically saved the movie with her skilled editing.

Star Wars became so huge that Lucas and Disney should not have made new SW movies.

It's pretty much impossible to make a new Star Wars that people will like die to the cultish nature of the fandom.

Not being able to make a good new Star Wars film has nothing to do with the fans.

the films were never that good in the first place

It was pleb shit that he did for a paycheck, and he was disgusted that it would be how he's remembered. I imagine Michael Caine must feel the same way about playing Batman's butler.

he just wanted to ride his bicycle

I find it revolting when people do something that gets them a lot of money, fame, and love and then turn around and shit on it.
>i-its cause it got too popular!
I don't care his reasons that level of ingratitude is abhorrent.

pusy

He didn't look at all his interviews and comments accross different periods. There are some interviews recorded late in his life and he talks about it normally, has some praise for everyone, makes fun of Lucas's dialogue so in short he acts like everybody else. He might've had a love hate relationship especially in the 80s when he was trying to find other work but not later.

Because he isn’t a manchild

>I imagine Michael Caine must feel the same way about playing Batman's butler.
"Somebody said, 'Have you ever seen Jaws 4?' I said, 'No. But I've seen the house it bought for my mum. It's fantastic!'"

fans will literally never be satisfied

That's still not a compelling reason to give up and make terrible movies instead of trying.

because he hated how everyone treated it like a great movie. in his mind it was a fun, solid, simple film, but it created this whole cultural shift.

Excuse for lazy, dishonest people to justify their mistakes to themselves.

I know Alec Guinness best as the blind butler Jamesir Bensonmum from Murder by Death.

From his diary:
>It's a pretty staggering film as spectacle and technically brilliant. Exciting, very noisy and warm-hearted. The battle scenes at the end go on for five minutes too long, I feel, and some of the dialogue is excruciating and much of it is lost in noise, but it remains a vivid experience.

Dat side vag

>Marcia basically saved the movie with her skilled editing.

This has been debunked numerous times.

Same reason Harrison Ford hates it as well. Imagine having an entire decades-long acting career and fat neckbears still want to bug you about Han Solo

>Why did he hate Star Wars so much?

Because Alex Guinness was an extraordinary actor of enormous talents and refined tastes. He believed, as did most early Star Wars fans, that Star Wars was going to be a high brow space opera. Instead, he watched Star Wars devolve into ewoks, jar jars, and pew-pew orgies of CGI overuse. Luckily, he was spared the cheesy, lazy remake of A New Hope and the not-Star-Wars hyperspace-ram-it SJW-Wars.

gay reddit meme that's false

Michael Caine actually has said numerous times that he separates roles in his mind as either films or paychecks. He doesn't give a fuck at all because he knows he's a good actor.

Because it's trash

he did ask for a cut of the profits (including merchandise). he wouldn't do that if hen thought it sucked.
