Eros only began to accelerate as it was approached by the Navoo. The problem with the bomb timer happened well before. If Miller had thrown the bomb away when everyone else was clear, but before the Navoo's final approach when Eros began its acceleration, the scenario would have played out this way.

This would have been the most logical time for him to have done it, as he could have then returned to the surface after its detonation, jumped off of Eros, and been picked up in free space after the Navoo collided.

Again, the many meters of rock he could have interposed between himself and the bomb would have attenuated most or all of its effects. Everything you describe was within clear line of sight.

If he had been lazy he could still have gotten 45 meters of stone between himself and the pulse.

I made it almost to the end of season 2. On my first attempt, I stopped at episode 7 but I kept hearing it was really good. Currently watching right now. I've got the flu so I spent all day in bed yesterday and today watching it and reading Children of Time (superb book, soon to be butchered into a 2hr movie). I've been enjoying it so far, some of the cultural choices are mixed (I love the melting pot of accents and races in the Belt, this would make sense in 23XX, but the fact that some characters (the paki bitch on earth) seem to have 2019 culture is a bit ridiculous. The Cgi is weak in a few places but for a space TV show it's about as good as it gets, no-one is sinking millions into a genre that doesn't get watched by everyone.

biggest problem I have with it is the main characters motivation for doing anything. They're ice haulers, who get their ship blown up... then suddenly they're more than interested in going off doing missions around the solar system like some videogame quest system. Logically as soon as they found port on the mars frigate, they would have handed over the ship & info and then fucked right off back to Ceres or wherever they originated from.

I started it, but it was early when it was just released, forgot about for years, friend of mine asked me to watch it, figured I'd seen the first series, ok but in reality I'd probably only seen the first 4/5 episodes that I didn't really like so I started on season 2, but fuck man it's great, like I said I'll probably start from the beginning, since I missed a lot, I'm not complaining more expance, I loved the geopolitics of the series, very believable, it's Kino.

This is exactly what I was looking for and found, this is that show. Incels are going to be massively butthurt in the future when all the shitskins don't die off and there's still Mexicans, so the forced diversity isn't really a valid criticism from alt right SJWs who finally managed to be as cringe as Mary Sue's. Nobody in the show is all that attractive, and all the acting SUCKS with the exception of the detective and ambassador for Earth. But the story is fascinating, once you break into the highly textured and we'll thought out world the show is very fun and enjoyable. The CGI starts cheesy and then gets very good, especially if you had low expectations of it being a TV show catering to a small audience. the horrible acting eventually is charming when you fall for the world the characters are set in

That's what I liked, humans have reached the point where travel between the planet's is fairly trivial, and humans have pretty much reached its carrying capacity for the solar system, causing tension between the solar system powers, earth/mars, the protomocule is a game changer though, man it's a great show.

Usually I hate it when a TV show stretches out material just to pad their episode count but you're right on this one. They should have taken their time with some of the subplots or just eliminated them. Likely the production company was trying to save money and the show buyers weren't willing to pay more for a larger number of episodes. I've heard their budget got a huge increase on Amazon. Hopefully Bezos doesn't push them to insert some of his political crap.

The middle episodes of season 2 (aka end of book 1) were when the show finally achieved KINO. After that it got kind of shitty again. Will pick it back up at some point. Books are way better.

desu all the tech in the show is just a more advanced version of what we already have - they seem to be using some different fuel for the engines (they call it fusion but it's a meme as there's obvious combustion going on), the suit tech is refined and terraforming is underway but none of it is sci-fantasy. On current tech we are hilariously far away from AI or cyborgs - at best we have machine learning (exact opposite of AI).

also, the science behind this scene did annoy me a little. it showed velocity of 27000 m/s, fine. It also showed g-force of 15.XX - lets say 16 to make it easier. 1g=9.8m/s/s, the force of gravity on earth (the acceleration caused by gravity). so 16G = 156.8m/s/s. To get to 27000m/s, they would only have to accelerate for 172s (approx 3 minutes). Once at vmax, there is no more acceleration (and thus, no more gforce). so they shouldnt be feeling the effects of acceleration when they are not accelerating.

relative speed would just make it drift behind Eros slightly slowing down.
