I fucking loved this show. The most underrated [AS] cartoon in my opinion. It's different from Neely's youtube shorts based on the same characters, but China Il still works as a standalone show.

My only complaint is that they dumbed down Baby Cakes a little too much.

It's amazing how many famous people they got to be on this show from the start. Hulk Hogan (surprisingly good voice actor), Jeffrey Tambor, Hannibal Buress, Greta Gerwig. And Jason Alexander and Cat Power as guest voices.

Even though the slideshow animation shorts were S-class (rewatched a ripped playlist about 300 times some time before 2010), the show was so damn comfy. The smooth-fast animation with perfect lines was borderline tweening, and the edgy comedy always made it kinda cringe though.

They kinda fucked up the original characters though:

Without the first person, blog-style narration, Brad Neely's cartoons lose 100% of their mystique. Babycakes is probably one of the greatest cartoon characters ever, but without direct access to his inner thoughts he's just a big ugly retard. This show was a god damn abomination, with episodes ranging from okay to insultingly horrendous.

Hannibal had a contract with Adult Swim via Eric Andre show but yeah all the others including Donald Glover and more in the third season is probably why there wasn't a fourth season. It was just eating up the budget with voice talent.

I fucking love Frisky Dingo and it makes me upset that there is only 2 seasons. The show has so many moments but the episode where Xander is on the side of the road boiling needles in a pot and shooting a flare at Brenda his "secretary at the outreach center" I fucking bust a gut. Oh and of course Wendell, everything he touches is gold. "Listen Cody I ain't bankrollin' your whole stretch"
