It was just mindblowing dude, how nothing was explained, all these options, the freedom. I remember how my friends struggled to play it and i always helped them cause they sucked, it was so much different from all the other console games.

Should I play Morrowind modded or unmodded? What's the best website to download mods for Morrowind?

Just grab some graphical packs for it, but leave everything else alone.
Its still a pretty decent game story and mechanics wise, but the visuals have aged like Brie Larsons feet.

I always recommend going vanilla the first couple of times for all highly moddable games. Such as Bethesda's TES and Fallouts. This way you know the mechanics of the game and what you want to fix/change.
