Horror is always trending. It's a fucking money machine. If you can keep the budget under 5M, you are guaranteed to make money with a wide release.

I would not mind a new adaption if it's done right. The original excludes the best parts of the book.

It’s not some sort of deep story that can be retold in a new way, shit that gets buried comes back to life the movie.

The issue with adapting the book is the story isn't the pet sematary, it's Louis losing his mind and secrets. It doesn't really translate all that well to a theatrical movie.

Horror movies are easy to break even and make a profit, but the issue is it's often a massive percentage based return rather than a scale return. Even a middling big budget action movie can make more money than a huge hit horror.
