I'm guessing disney paid off a lot of people to shill it there because I don't buy it for a second that chinese would like such a dull story, with terrible action scenes and cgi, and Brie being so wooden and unattractive as lead. Literally none of that is true though. There is no new story in the movie. The issue with the adaption is so basic and dull that the framework shows and is often 100% literal. It also takes characters and (and character arcs) that, in the source, were responses to cliche, and makes them even more cliche than the cliches they were responses to.
As an adaptation it was more geared to forcing the iconic bits from the material into a hollywood friendly structure than taking what set it apart from hollywood (and anime) in the first place and amplifying those traits. thus, it is a failed adaptation. It's forcing a square peg through a circular hole and patting itself on the back with the sequel hook at the end.
