Passed up in what way? Producing metric piles of shit by the day?

netflix became HBO faster than HBO could become netflix

>Netflix is adding almost as many subscribers in one year as HBO did in 40 years
>Netflix and HBO have nearly identical revenue ($5.5bil & $5.4bil)

HBO is consistently very profitable. Netflix funds their content with debt, Netflix has like 20 billion in debt right now.

I rather be Netflix than HBO. HBO is a boomer-tier brand. Netflix owns the future.

>Netflix owns the future.
They are in debt up to their eyeballs and other competitive streaming services(specifically Disney) will put more pressure on them. They are in vogue right now but their grip is anything but guaranteed

Disney doesn't really compete with them. Disney is a family brand, and Netflix is a young adult to adult brand.

They'll be OK it took Amazon 15 years to start posting real profits

Amazon was able to keep spreading it's tentacles into everything (including streaming). Netflix is streaming only.

Amazon spent its money on physical infrastructure and had a plan to reach profitability. Netflix is all licensed goods that need constant updating and the only way they can reach profitability is to charge more, which in turn will lose them customers. I can see Netflix failing easily.

Imagine being such a millennial retard that you actually believe this

>Disney doesn't really compete with them.
Now you are just being silly. Netflix is scared shitless of Disney, especially because tons of Disney content will be pulled from Netflix

Well HBO isn't streaming for one thing, fucking idiot.

Wrong on every count. Disney+ will have the largest catalog of content in the world. They will literally put Netflix out of business.

Disney will come out with a service with no swearing or sex scenes. Netflix has a wide open lane in adult entertainment.

>What is HBO NOW?

Source: ASS

>what is HBO GO
You probably pay for porn, boomer.

Yikes, you sound more like a Netflix shill by the second

HBO are like Jordan's. They will never go away.

Go is free with your HBO subscription. NOW is their streaming service.

And you can’t afford either because you’re a millennial that works at Mcdonald’s

Studios fracturing streamable content among themselves will kill streaming. No one wants to pay for 5-6 services.

>No one wants to pay for 5-6 services.
People paid(and still pay) 60+ dollars a month for cable.

Unlikely. Instead what will happen is some of the lesser companies will die out, like Netflix which is destined to be the new Blockbuster.

And they constantly bitch about it. But that money also gets them every channel they want to watch, including live sports and network. No one wants to pay that much for multiple streaming services.

>No one wants to pay that much for multiple streaming services.
I think you are wrong, and you are just projecting your desire to not pay for multiple streaming services onto everyone else. What evidence do you have to the contrary? People already DO buy multiple streaming services at this point.

The bigger question is why did HBO stop producing quality content?
I don't care about Netflix.

>The bigger question is why did HBO stop producing quality content?
This decade has really been a wash for them as far as new shows go that aren't adaptations.

My evidence is the cord cutters. They dropped cable because it was too expensive. They're not going to want to go back to paying the same amount. And people generally have maybe 2 services, with Prime being one of them (and probably half of those don't even use it for video).

Every time I see a trailer for a new show they're producing lately, I have no interest in the subject matter.

They've turned to shit. True Detective was a great one off they shouldn't have tried to repeat. Boardwalk was okay but nothing special. Game of Thrones was great for four seasons then turned to absolute shit. Silicon Valley isn't bad. There's nothing else they've done that I've been interested in. Every time I hear about their upcoming show or see a new trailer I'm just indifferent. They used to be cutting edge and made phenomenal programming. Now they're just meh. Their flagship show absolutely sucks and it looks like they're building the foreseeable future around spin offs which will probably be as bad as the last four years of it have been or worse.
