Lots of things that are super shitty are not illegal. That's not the only measure we should take to things.

Individuals have personal agency and have to take responsibility for themselves and their actions. "Muh careers" is an explanation, not an excuse. They could have always walked away, that's the hard truth. And if they all had, Weinstein wouldn't have any power. In a way, they perpetrated him and are partially responsible.

A good take on this is Asia Argento: she made accusations against Weinstein in the 90s, and her then boyfriend Vincent Gallo was made aware of these accusations and personally spoke against Weinstein. What did Argento do then? She backtracked, refused to back up Gallo, and then went on to work with Weinstein leaving Gallo alone in the dust and blacklisted. Then decades later, now, she's a proponent of "metoo". I have zero sympathy for these people, they're not real victims, a victim doens't backtrack and go back to work with their abuser. Gallo was willing to speak out decades ago and even the supposed victims did nothing to help him.

This is not a posture to defend, man. There was a time in which a noble lord could stroll into your house in the middle of your wedding and demand to fuck your wife because THAT WAS THE LAW. And she'd likely go "willingly" because the alternative was very bad for everyone.

At least putting all this in the public eye makes it more difficult for other producers to pull the same thing, even if the justice system determines there was no criminal offence.
Argento and Gallo are still both victims, even if one backstabbed the other to not get blacklisted; more than showing no sympathy for one, I'd direct my indignation to the person who put both in that position in the first place.
