Why do people say he has the worst films? The first was great, second two were not really bad or anything like Spectre or QoS. Spectre was probably even more WTF than Die Another Day for me. It did everything wrong.

But GoldenEye, his best, is nowhere near as good as Casino Royale or Skyfall.

Die another Day is probably the worst Bond movie ever, the other 3 are decent though

it's a reddit meme

I'd put it on the same level as Skyfall as they both represent spurned ex-agents with personal motivations. Casino Royale was fantastic though.

right, it's so much better

Worse than Thunderball, Diamonds, Golden gun, Moonraker and View to a Kill?
You gotta be kidding me

>But GoldenEye, his best, is nowhere near as good as Casino Royale or Skyfall.
I've got news for you, your mother dropped you on your head when you were a baby, repeatedly

he got the best Bond girl ever.

Attached: 1530055465212.jpg (1275x540, 164K)

that isnt Dalton faggot

It was the 90s / early 2000s everything was shit that wasn't Pixar

In my opinion though Tomorrow Never Dies is in the top 10 and is much better than Goldeneye

Dalton got screwed. He put serious effort into his films and is the best actor to land the role. Sadly the films themselves lack energy. The Living Daylights couldn't decide if it wanted to be a Moore film or something serious.

>actually shilling any of Craig's snooze fest movies

He choose Remington Steele. He easily could have given Dalton the finger and made 7+ Bond films.

Goldeneye would have been in 95, but he would have had Daltons two films and probably a 91 - 92 film. In 86, he was 33 and could have portrayed a young bond leaving the navy for MI6 and there could have been a successful reboot. When you had shit like Moonraker, A View to Kill, and For your eyes only, the only reasonable solution was a reboot.

Dalton was shit tier and not even mildly entertaining. An 80's soft reboot with a younger more stylistic and suave bond such as Bronsan could have changed the entirety of the saga and we would have (probably) avoided Die Another Day, but still got Casino Royale with Craig (which was overrated, but it gave us Skyfall).

I think all and all Pierce fucked it up when he took it in 95. Yes, Goldeneye was good. But it was good because it was groundbreaking. They made Bond work after the cold war.

A more developed Bronsan bond with two - three movies under his belt would have made a better and more seasoned 007, which I feel would have raised the stakes in the film and made it better. I do also believe that films such as Tomorrow Never Dies or The World is not Enough would have been written and scripted better.

True but it's still great.

Craig has the worst films

>she's unarmed
>shots her in the face for she telling the bad guy to keep with the mission...once after she already told him
I know is in the screenplay to always kill at least one love interest in every Bond movie ever, but this was silly

Brosnan for me. Goldeneye is wonderful, but they get progressively zanier. DAD is like a cartoon.
youtube.com/watch?v=32kXCBCoo0Q

Yeah but she's French so fuck her

that's not QoS or Spectre

Skyfall was gay af. Stupidest fucking Bond movie I have ever seen.

Licence to Kill is excellent faggot

Attached: ltk.png (392x592, 441K)

>fuck her
That was my intention

>He choose Remington Steele. He easily could have given Dalton the finger and made 7+ Bond films.
Brosnan was locked in a contract. NBC wanted to share him. But the Bond producers said no and offered the part to Dalton again. Dalton was originally offered the role before Lazenby or Moore, though he turned it down because he thought he was too young. He was approached again in the 70s but turned it down because he didn't like the comedic direction the franchise had taken.

Attached: Dalton.png (1480x1020, 2.26M)

This. The Craig films aren't bad per se, but they lack the fun factor Bond movies need.

The post-GoldenEye Brosnan movies all suffer from good ideas being ruined by poor execution. Interestingly both Tomorrow never dies and The World is not Enough try a similar twist on the Bond formula and both make the same mistake. In Tomorrow Never Dies, the Bond girl dies halfway through the film, and in The World is not Enough the Bond girl turnes out to be the villian. In both cases they screw up by brining in a second girl which ruins the impact.

Die Another Day is a strange beast where they try to make it both the darkest, grittiest Bond movie and also the silliest and campiest. A lot of the movie is well executed, but it all anyone remembers is the invisible car, space laser and Halle Berry trying to act.

Dalton is pretty great in Doom Patrol currently

unironically my favorite Bond movie, loved everything about it except maybe the bond girl and the stupid texan cop

I love the main Bond girl, she's stupid but hot and lovable. Also Sheriff Pepper is a riot. The weakest aspects of the film for me are the kung fu school scene which adds nothing and is just filler, and that dumb sound effect they use during one of the greatest stunts ever captured on film. It's still a 10/10 for me

What? Goldeneye is one of the best, it's right up there with the Connery movies.

Total pleb opinion

>kung fu school scene

i love that one, its whacky but it has two school girls fighting a bunch of karate kids, thats way more fun than silly cop guy

Gen X here.
I was disappointed by Golden Eye back then. Being a Brosnan fan since Remington Steele, he seemed too stiff, lacking that pure swagger of his earlier role.

Attached: steele.jpg (1401x1030, 80K)

He had the bad luck to become Bond right when the Cold War ended and even then Hollywood didn’t want to agitate the Chinese market too much

as he was in penny dreadful

Eh, the choreography was pretty shit imo. I do love the boat chase that takes place right after

>that small kid he tosses over the boat and says "I'll have to owe you!"

objectively wrong

Attached: Daniela-Bianchi.jpg (1800x1080, 197K)

CR is the only good Craig Bond film.

It's not good though

i was pretty disappointed by watching goldeneye for the first time seeing it usally gets lots of credit. i thought it was pretty silly and stupid and didn't make much of its nice setup of having two double 0s going up against each other

i was pleasantly surprised by the world is not enough, i thought that one was much better than goldeneye

Wrong, simply wrong. I know contrarianism runs rampant on this board but Craig is great. Spectre was the only time I didn't like him, and even then he had some good bits in there.
Lazenby is the worst Bond easily. OHMSS is a decent film but Lazenby was such a weak link.

Attached: 1533616594876.png (1600x667, 1.23M)

I agree that TWINE is a bit better. My issue with GE is that the pacing feels rushed and the sets/locations are boring. It also pretends to put a twist on the formula when really Trevalyan is just another megalomaniac. TWINE is a far more interesting and unique entry in the series

i agree that Lazenby is horrible, and while Craig is a good actor, i think he is very miscast as Bond. he looks very brutish, more like a hoolgian than a slick secret agent

>muh contrarianism
Most boomers don't like him, he has plenty of critics. But if it makes you feel better to assume anyone you disagree with is just pretending, have at it

Spectre was just tiring movie to watch

>I think all and all Pierce fucked it up when he took it in 95. Yes, Goldeneye was good. But it was good because it was groundbreaking. They made Bond work after the cold war.
As mentioned above, the scriptwriters made Brosnan too stiff. It robbed Brosnan of his boyish charm. He shouldn't have done Bond at all but focussed on making 4 or 5 good seasons of Steele, then move on to make other movies. He wasted his career on Bond.

Which is why I am against Cillian Murphy as Bond as well. He should take on better roles.

>He wasted his career on Bond.

he wasted his career on the role that made him famous and rich and defined his career?

okay dude

Bonds from worst to best:

Dalton
Lazenby
Craig
Moore
Brosnan
Connery
Idris Elba

>he looks very brutish, more like a hooligan than a slick secret agent
this is valid, but maybe the writers/directors were going for a more brutish/less sophisticated Bond with Craig, but he still pulled off the "sophisticated parts" well as an actor. Maybe they saw this as more in line with the times/current movies.

Attached: Untitled.jpg (1280x899, 163K)

I don't see it. He's very suave, he oozes masculinity when he wears the suit. And being brutish in some scenes isn't bad, Bond is a cold hearted killer and killing is a messy business.
>Most boomers don't like him, he has plenty of critics.
Do you mean the reddit meme boomer, or actual baby boomers? Because baby boomers only know Connery and Moore.
It's not contrarianism to criticize his performance, a lot of people don't want a grittier Bond and prefer more campy stuff like the 70s. What is contrarianism to say he's worse than the Australian model that never acted a day in his life.

Yeah, they were beyond awful. I don't mind Bond being campy, but these were just corny. It was like the very worst of mainstream 90s movie making rolled into one big by-committee ball of corn.

Someone post the picture of Brosnan with his mouth edited to look like this picture.

But Goldeneye is the only good Bond movie

Attached: G8J1e.jpg (600x808, 193K)

FACT: Boomers only think of Goldeneye fondly because it reminds them of the N64 game and their childhoods.

>Skyfall
>good

Attached: 1539720745731.jpg (443x455, 96K)

>I don't see it.

Remember the scene when Dalton dresses up as a waiter to infiltrate the bad guys place? Still came across as a vicious killer in other scenes if he had to?

Now imagine a guy like Craig dressing up as a waiter and 'infiltrating' a place, not drawing all attention to him by being a big bad meaty man hunk.

works for yo? doesnt really work for me.

The cello playing assasin chick was fine

These threads are always interesting. I can understand different preferences but all in all they did a really good job with all the actors throughout the ages. Somehow the "who is the best Bond" question still polarizes people a lot. Why do guys care so much?

To be fair, Skyfall is overrated to high heaven desu. No RT score is gonna change my mind about it.

unbased quads of untruth

I can attest to this. I was born in the '80s and Goldeneye was terrible. It really is. The game was legendary, though.

Lazenby wasn't that bad, he had a vulnerability that leaned itself to a more romantic Bond film. Connery would have been terrible in a story about actually falling in love, he's too impenetrable. Not saying Lazenby was the best choice, but I think it worked out and OHMSS is a classic, and far better than any of Craig's movies.

even with the quality dip in the third act, this is the best bond film

Attached: the living daylights.jpg (620x465, 58K)

longest running series of blockbuster movies, world wide institution in and of itself. somehow maintained a high level of quality over all the decades. probably the last well respected blockbuster movie franchise, people that wouldn't come anywhere near Marvel movies withing 5 miles would still watch a new Bond

not even sure myself why about that last point, its not like they have a lot of substance usually. maybe its because Bond for the most part avoided the pitfalls of cgi and stuck to practical effects (consequently Die another die is by far the most hated Bond).

>vulnerability

you might have a point with connery but lazenby is he is wooden and a charisma black hole

Not even the best Dalton film.

Attached: that bond list image.png (790x1250, 1.12M)

I liked him in his scenes with Diana Rigg, and at the end when he grieves over her it was done very well. At no point did I think he was a terrible actor, wooden sometimes sure, but overall adequate. Also he actually looks the part, which is more than I can say for others

Dalton's smugface is nearly an artform. Brilliant in Hot Fuzz too.

That was simply a line that never should have made it in the final cut. I would be awkward saying it too, Bond should never break the fourth wall. I still love OHMSS tho

But Dalton was a good Bond as well as having two very good Bond films, which is more than can be said for Brosnan who nearly killed the franchise with his last two efforts - despite him being a good Bond himself.

Attached: Sir Timothy Dalton.jpg (1768x2658, 1.05M)

despite never seeing a bond movie, im only here for the architect

He did kill the franchise though, everything after him isn't James Bond

The first half of Die Another Day, and I mean it's exactly up until the halfway point, is a top tier bond film

TWINE wasn't that bad
It's DAD that killed the franchise twice over
Not that Brosnan could have done anything about it

Say what you want about the second half, but the Ice Palace looks amazing and the catfight between Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike is great

Accuracy is not the same as quality. Also have you actually read Casino Royale? It's not like the movie

What's interesting about the Bond franchise is that it is the same concept done repetedly over several decades. Which Bond you prefer really reflects what age of filmmaking you prefer.

You need to switch the films plebbitor, skyfall was beyond overrated

that one is screaming for some fake subtitles

"craigbabbies" doesn't even care about Craig in the movies. I mean that they don't like any precise Bond movie because of Craig but they like it regardless from Craig. He might not be the best Bond, but for sure his Bond movies are overall the best.

Casino Royale is good. Skyfall is good too.

His movies are shit

Their romance was terrible executed, Craig is not believable at all as a romantic lead, and Vesper was written as a stupid cunt and I smiled when she died

the world is not enough, brosnans best
die another day, horrible abomination

i cant see a clear pattern here

>there was almost a decade of shitty bond films after Goldeneye
Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is Not Enough weren't that bad. Die Another Day was truly the only shitty Brosnan Bond.

>Now imagine a guy like Craig dressing up as a waiter and 'infiltrating' a place, not drawing all attention to him by being a big bad meaty man hunk.
He does that in Casino Royale, he pretends to be a valet at the Ocean Club. Craig is also not as tall as some of the other Bonds, he has a good "infiltrator" build.
Skyfall is entertaining but not excellent. I'd put it somewhere in the middle of the series in terms of quality.
The only time he really felt vulnerable was the ending, which to be fair was excellent. I think it could have been a classic if it weren't following actual classics like Thunderball and YOLT.
Casino Royale has already gone down as a classic.
I actually loved the third act. Fucking up shit at a dessert airbase gave me great Raiders of the Lost Ark vibes.

Friendly reminder because Stanley Kubrick was based in England he became lighting consultant on The Spy Who Loved Me.

It feels like a script that was bought then turned into a Bond movie and probably is. It makes Bond out to be some old school dickbag despite having cars with machine guns and million other gadgets.

this is peak male performance. Brosnan was in god mode here.

They should bring him back when they reboot it with a new actor. Henry Cavill as Bond and Armie Hammer as Felix Leiter. We all know this makes sense.

The science behind the stunt is actually pretty interesting. You might notice that the broken bridge is shaped perfectly like a helix to allow the car to flip in the right way. But they needed the car to have a perfectly symmetrical weight distribution for the stunt to work, so they had to specifically design and make a car that had just a single seat right in the centre. The studio execs were very worried about this stunt due to the high cost of making the car but the stuntman pulled it off perfectly the first time, so Cubby Broccoli wrote him a big cheque as a bonus.

Licence to Kill is phenomenal and unique among Bond films.

Goldfinger isn't actually that good of a movie overall, but it has ancillary shit that makes it memorable.

No, I'm just not a basement dweller who panics when he's within 50 feet of a vagina.

>a.) Eon didn't bring back Martin Campbell after Goldeneye

Martin Campbell directed Casino Royale

>Even straight dudes like me know it's Sean Connery.
Are you really this much of an ignoramus, or just shilling? Ask any female who they prefer. The answer will be Craig. Even your grandmother who used to schlick to Connery will say Craig if you show her a picture of him.

Licence to Kill was gritty Bond done right. It was darker and more violent than other Bond movies but still had plenty of charm and adventure elements. It was just edgy enough to be cool and just silly enough to be fun. I feel the Craig movies went too far down one particular path

Xenia Onatopp is the ultimate Bond girl.

You don't say?

He is wearing a nice ladies' watch

I really liked The Guest.

Hate to tell you this but Paul McCartney is a man

Jaws married best girl

He doesn't look like a James Bond

Brosnan was a shit Bond, he said so himself

And he was wrong

I like Craig as Bond, but he looks like a monkey

In the end, who does?

Attached: James bond drawing commissioned by Ian Fleming.jpg (176x277, 14K)

wrong. OHMSS is extremely overrated and only contrarians thinks its good.

Living Daylights is abosliute shit. License to Kill is absolute kino. A true 80s action classic.

You do have Thunderball at the top though so at least you got something right.

t. zoomer

>wrong. OHMSS is extremely overrated and only contrarians thinks its good.
false, it's great and the "contrarian" accusation is meaningless and unfalsifiable

>Living Daylights is abosliute shit. License to Kill is absolute kino. A true 80s action classic
On this I agree

>Skyfall above A View to a Kill
that's a yikes

Trans female Bond when?

Your list is fucking horrible.
>Goldeneye that high
>TND and TWINE above the meme tier films
Christ

>OHMSS
>literally just a 2 hour advertisement for the Winter Olympics
>good

Quick, a studio gives you big monies to make a new bond movie.

What do you make the title?

There's a cap on how high a song sung by a man can be on the list.

He really isn't. He comes of so sterile and clinical, like he's just doing a caricature of Bond. Also trying to hide his Irish accent makes him even worse.

main Bond girl is incredible, sets, locations and cinematography are beautiful, one of the most well-directed films in the series and has that great Louis Armstrong song

Plus Savalas is the best Blofeld

Peter Cushing

Attached: PETER-CUSHING-762571.jpg (590x711, 57K)

Both of them are far more enjoyable than any of those meme tier films.

Give him chestnut brown hair and we're good to go.

I think he was wooden in Goldeneye but came into his own in Tomorrow Never Dies, and his performance in TWINE is great. The way he does that back and forth with Elektra, and his subtle facial expressions during their conversations. They had wonderful chemistry

He's not the best but I think he did a fine job

>sets, locations and cinematography are beautiful
Dogshit taste my man. There's nothing remarkable about staring at the Alps for 2 hours. It's bland as fuck.

Tomorrow Never Dies is actually terrible. The climax of the film is so awful. I saw it on TV with my mum the other month and we were in shock about how bad everything about it was, especially Brosnan's acting

>Tomorrow Never Dies is actually terrible.
You just keep discrediting yourself more and more. It has all the pieces of a successful Bond film, it just misses the mark in a few places.

Piz Gloria was magnificent, the way his labs are built into the mountain. So you don't like snow, got it

>QoS is almost universally considered bottom-tier Bond
>Can't bring myself to hate it as it introduced me to Gemma Arterton

Do I just gave shit taste?

Too short and too bald

Yeah the climax is just nonstop pewpewpew shit like a video game, and it just drags on. Doesn't help that the movie is just ugly, it's the most generic and boring looking Bond movie. The lighting and photography is like a direct to video flick

But he dead.

Weirdly enough it's the only Craig Bond film I genuinely like, and don't forget it introduced us to Olga too

Attached: olga.jpg (544x600, 84K)

>It has all the pieces of a successful Bond film
What does this even mean? Since Goldfinger they all followed the same basic formula. It's a not a way to differentiate good or bad.

It's fine for a scene, dull for 2 hours.

she might be the hottest woman in the world in that vampire movie, don't remember the name. She's got dark hair and wears lingerie. It's absurd how sexy she is.

>dey all da same
Holy shit, no wonder.

Goldeneye has some of THE most memorable lines
>For England James
>no, for me

>she tastes like...strawberries
>I wouldn't know
>I would

>I AM INVEEENCABLE!

>I hope you'll stay...Onatop of things

Brosnan was the last quippy, fun Bond before the Craigs super srs period.

It also has one of the best scores, maybe the best

When did you accept that Licence to Kill had the best Bond girl

Step your game up.

Awful taste

did they really make all those cuts in the actual film?

I guess. Fighting Russians in Afghanistan seems pretty cold war to me.
Fucking watch the movie. I'm not here to spoonfeed you.

'
>zoomer
Nice well thought out argument.

Did you miss the part where I prefer several Bond films from the 60s?

Yes. It wasn't a 10/10 as you remember, was it?

No but AVTAK is

Casino Royale = Goldeneye >>>> Skyfall

Walken looks based as a blond

Good with grey hair too.

Only plebs rate this absolute babe anywhere out of the top 5. Top 5 bond babes are in no particular order so shes essentially the best bond girl.

great casting job. Classic Burton.

i think QoS is my favorite craig movie - i liked the structure of it, the bad guy, the hints at a bigger enemy of spectre but still keeping it out about the water plot and the girl's quest for revenge. bond seemingly going off the hook but the ending bringing him back to his old self

Although his films could have been executed better and his era feels like a strange transitional period, The Living Daylights is underrated imo it's super enjoyable from start to finish and yeah it kind of awkwardly balances the lighthearted, humorous moments of Moore's era with more serious dark moments in later films but you have to admit it's entertaining nonetheless.

Dalton is not for bullying.

Daniel Craig is a good bond for all the action sequences, he looks badass and gritty and real. He isn't as fun or as charismatic in scenes where he interacts with other characters. That's probably why people rate him so highly because he, and his films brought a much-needed high-octane punch to the series just as it was getting campy and stale.

She's so plain looking, why would they make this thing a Bond Girl

Goldeneye, Casino Royale, Skyfall & License to Kill. Also think Tomorrow Never Dies is pretty underrated

Skyfall is trash, Casino is OKAY. Dont fall for shills. As soon as a new Bond actor is found the number of people who defend Craig will plummet and only Casino Royale will still be respected as an OKAY Bond movie.

Fair enough. I do find him pretty charismatic though, he has good dry wit, especially with Vesper Lynd.
His action scenes are more intense than lighthearted fun though so I can see why someone wouldn't find him fun as bond.

Die Another Day is peak early 00s SHIT FILM making. Everything about it screams early 00s

I hated his scenes with Vesper, thought they had zero chemistry and she acts like a cunt toward him for no reason

>contrarianism runs rampant on this board but Craig is great.
defending Craig IS contrarianism.

>she acts like a cunt toward him for no reason
A representation of the first world roastie that is imbued with an instinct to hate men from the cradle nowadays

blame the 90s, a terrible decade

>Casino Royale is overrated but Skyfall is great
You are a pompous faggot with stupid opinions

No the 90s had tons and tons of great movies, It was just a bad decade for Bond because Cubby died and his stupid whore daughter took over

David Niven, Basil Rathbone

pleb detected

thunderball is one of the most kino movies of all time

nothing but her could make me watch a craig bond. maybe.

Attached: 1539922356745.jpg (970x545, 50K)

>no cartoonish bond budget
It was the 2nd most expensive bond film ever at the time

it's certainly MUCH better than the others mentioned and on par with you only live twice.

>contrarianism
>defending Quantum of Solace, a film even normies hate

>has 1 good villain in the form of the blonde, foreign assassin we've seen done a million times
>boring bond girl
>bad song
>laughably bad final act
Dalton's intro on the training island was pretty solid.

Is there anyone on youtube that analyzes the Bond movies/eras and is interesting enough/not a giant douchenozzle?

Anything before Dalton is too old and cheesy for my tastes. Something about old action movies just dont jive with me

Not enough pozzing for your taste?

I don't use this word often, but Quantum really was the biggest plebfilter ever. The movie is easily Top 3 Bond movies of all time.

That and the action choreography looks like something 12 year olds would put on youtube

I usually don't post my list this late in a based Bond thread, but I can't resist.

Favorite Bond Movies
1. Goldfinger
2. Thunderball
3. Goldeneye
4. Dr. No
5. The Man With The Golden Gun
6. License To Kill
7. Moonraker
8. Live And Let Die
9. The Living Daylights
10. Casino Royale
11. From Russia With Love
12. You Only Live Twice
13. Skyfall
14. The Spy Who Loved Me
15. Diamonds Are Forever
16. Tomorrow Never Dies
17. A View To Kill
18. For Your Eyes Only
19. OHMSS
20. Octopussy
21. Never Say Never Again
22. Spectre
23. Quantum Of Solace
24.The World Is Not Enough
25. Die Another Day

Why does everyone consider Die Another Day so bad? Never watched any Bond films but I know what James Bond is from cultural osmosis.

Bad plot, bad writing, bad effects, bad song.
The rest is sort of meh.

>Thunderball that high
>OHMSS that low
Oof

she says "this is the ladies room", and he adlibs "not from where im standing" and the actress breaks character at chadconnery

Lazenby is not Bond material. Ruins the story.

I agree. If it was Moore or Connery, it would have been a lot better.

Skyfall looks great but it's a bad movie

Third best, behind Dalton with Connery at first place.

it was a different time

Attached: jesus raimi.png (1353x575, 1.09M)

Craig era films is better than any post Goldeneye Brosnan films, Quantum of Solace only seems worse than Tommorow Never Dies or The World is Not Enough cause it had more expectations to live up to after Casino Royale.
If you concider Die Another Day a better Bond movie than any of the Craig films you might as well claim Austin Powers are better Bond films.

Goldeneye is better than all the Craig films that followed after CR:
Casino Royale> Goldeneye> Skyfall> Quantum of Solace> Spectre> Tommorow Never Dies> The World is Not Enough> Moonraker> Diamonds are Forever>>> Die Another Day

Yes.
>shitting on Thunderball
Wtf is wrong with you?

>Second best Bond after Connery
>Only two films

Attached: Timothy Dalton 06.jpg (572x422, 27K)

I don't like Licence to Kill that much, but when I watch it right after The Living Daylights, my second favorite Bond film, it becomes a comfy double feature.
