I don't get it

I wonder what that signage indicates.

This movie was such garbage. "Oh it turned out it was all a book!" That's barely better than "it was all a dream".

>t. brainlet

Rvg EEE N?

My eight grade English teacher told our class, any story that had this sort of ending would immediately fail. It's sad to see standards in creative writing lapsing at the professional level.

This. Doesn't make any sense.

The character in pic related is a whore who abandoned her struggling writer boyfriend. The boyfriend got his revenge by inviting her out to dinner and not showing up.

That wasn't what the film was trying to do though.
The film tells the audience quite clearly that it's a book and nothing else.

REEE

0 subtlety

why did they subject me to that shit at the beginning? not kino

>it turned out

They literally make it explicit that she's reading the book before bed every night. There's one scene where she gets freaked out out by something in the book so calls her irl daughter for reassurance

Yeah but that doesn’t explain the sign

>It was all a book
That’s supposed to be overtly obvious you fucking brainlet, it’s not an ebin le tweest you just don’t have 2 brain cells to rub together to understand the moving pictures in front of you

Formerly turning the other cheek

>giant letters that spell revenge
>subtle

Nigga?

This is what happens when you let a fashion designer direct a movie

>Vapid whore destroys family
>Cheats on husband and kills their baby
>Kills. Their. Baby.
>All because bullshit modern art like the canvas in OP tells her to
>Her bohemian friends wonder aloud if all their empowering art was worth it
>Spends whole movie seeking vindication
>Fake-ass support system abandons her so she ultimately goes to the restaurant thinking Jake will make her feel better
>Finally realizes she's been BTFO by one of the oldest, truest, and purest art forms there is - a book
It's literally one of the best films of the past couple decades, you cumdumpster. Film as a whole is an incredibly weak art form because of how it hijacks your thinking by tricking your brain into building false memories but every now and then there's a movie that actually leverages the medium to great effect and this is one of them. What's crazy about it is it's a fag that made it.

Actually underrated

You're 100% an american.

couldn't have said it better myself, although Jake killed himself, right? In the book his "counterpart" falls on his gun and it kills him; I'm guessing the equivalent would be him killing himself or dying on the way to the restaurant.

It's explicit from the first act that all that shit is happening in the novel he wrote. That wasn't a twist.

This. Pure kino wasted on generation capeshit.

came here to post this... embarrassing stupidity or a troll on his part, you decide

it appeared accidental in the film

To show that there's an objectivity to art and that some things are simply inherently ugly and that most people saying otherwise are lying to themselves. A lot of the film (OP's pic included) is a critique of modern art.

Snyderesque.

yeah but I didn't see the point so I thought it would carry some meaning in the overarching story

Typical pretentious fag movie

I think the point is that he died when she killed his kid. That's the real-world event with which his character's death in the book lines up.
>I married you and bought into your bs
>You killed my kid
>It felt like shooting myself in the desert
That's kind of how it goes imo. She surrounds herself in offices and a house full of all this bullshit art telling her all these lies and in the end all he had to do to trounce her and tear down the whole facade was put the truth into a book and send it to her so she could read it while her husband was in Manhattan fucking some other chick who wasn't much different from their neglected daughter.

wow he sure showed her

This but unironically. Her whole world is ripped to shreds by a simple book and without a single shot fired.

Kick-Ass was surprisingly good in this. I hate him in most shit.

Fuck your 8th grade teachers opinions

Sneed's revenge, formerly Chuck's.

This right here It's one of like top 5 films since the 60s ended and the 70s turned film into an opiate of the aesthetes.

It's also just plain retarded to think that kind of broad simplistic advice given to kids to help them make sense of things would apply when you're grown up.

Used to read word up magazine

>attention span is so short normal events in a movie turn into plot twists

Women are psychopathic children who want revenge even after starting all the fuss on her own fault

What are some other "fuck modern art" kinos?

Keep following advice from public school teachers. Maybe if you're lucky you can make 40k a year after graduating bottom of the class from your nearest state school, just like them

>subtle

I never mentioned subtlety.

ok maybe it's a good study film but that shit isn't comfy at all

I still haven't quite figured this film out but I know one thing that's great about it is how you can use it to bait bluepilled immigration-supporting faggots into making a fool of themselves trying to forcibly and compulsively pull some bluepilled message out of it.

Muder party. The characters are all pretentious art school nihilists, and they kill each other being depraved idiots

The book was him writing her life to show her how evil she was by killing their child without his consent retard

>that shit isn't comfy at all
It was meant to be as uncomfy as possible user.
>Sex sex sex more sex yes sex fucking fucking sex sex
>Drugs drugs party party sex fuck yes freedom liberation
>Deep meaning freedom of thought sex sex drugs art culture fancy sex sex
>Wine paintings sex culture sex drinking drugs sex
>Kill babies, fuck families, to hell with "old artforms"
Everything that powers the soma-river that we call "culture" right now gets absolutely shredded to bits. It's not even some MRA fantasy, Jake's character seems to actually blame himself for not being strong enough and manly enough to shut down his wife's artsy fartsy bullshit, when his own work was going fairly well, and save his family. It attacks everything that deserves to be attacked and takes absolutely no prisoners. Sometimes I feel like Tom Ford is a redpilled Texan who just pretends to be gay so he can get away with ripping into his peers and their degeneracy.

>Saulnier
Nice, gonna check it out.

He got his revenge by not meeting with her at the end. The sign is supposed to foreshadow his true intentions because by this point the audience believes that they are just going to rekindle.

I think he said that what the whore did to him was equivalent to the gun shot wound the main character suffered in the book. I don’t think he killed himself.

don't know why the fuck people hate this

Holy fuck he really is a faggot.

>Film as a whole is an incredibly weak art form because of how it hijacks your thinking by tricking your brain into building false memories
but film can also help get rid of flase memories and clear out all those bad thetans stored up in your body. I have some Tom Cruise films you should watch followed by a gokd auditing session.

it says never if read backwards from the second line up

>makes some bullshit statement just so he can get more boipussy
what a chad

Its not subtle But i think thats what your getting at

This was expert bait, well played man.

Ok now this subtle if you ask me youtu.be/oQYwFND7rHE

I knew early on that they would not get back together so to me none of this was subtle. I really it though. Will watch again
