Unbelievably based.

What makes you think the sequels will get anywhere near the success of the first one? People loved Avatar 1 for it's visuals, but we see great visuals of that caliber all the time now

Because Jim’s been pushing back the envelope even further.

Yes.

Jim's aiming to beat Avatar with Avatar 2.

Avatar was a grade D script that was able to piggyback off the James Cameron name and sold itself on the 3D visuals. Ten years have gone by since I watched it on the first day of release, and I still remember how bitterly disappointed I was in Cameron. To quote Mr Plinkett, "another A-list director loses his mind with the opium of CGI."

Avatar was Cameron's The Phantom Menace. A terrible movie that had to be done simply to get the itch to make a fantasy movie that could not have been done with 80s / 90s special effects tech out of his system. It does not deserve a sequel any more than Freddy Got Fingered. What story is there left to tell?

>680 days until Avatar 2 flops

I remember when we hit '>1000 days until Avatar 2'

>What story is there left to tell?

the story of Jake and Neytiri's family and clan and their struggle against the RDA.

You have literally zero imagination. Try this one on for size:

What if the origins of Pandora aren’t, strictly speaking, “natural?” What if the Na’vi are a second emergence of salience on a post-Singularity world where their forerunner species engineered them a paradise, then absented themselves to allow them to develop their own culture, sort of an application of Trek’s Prime Directive turned inward?

What if humanity steamrolls the Na’vi just to have a species show up that’s so advanced that they might as well be gods compared to humanity and the Na’vi both?

This
This was my first reaction when I saw the first trailer of Avatar. The Na'vis could be a designed species for interface between civilizations.

Probably will be another adventure movie tho
