Why are movies still tracked by dollar sales while video games are tracked by number of units sold? It makes it very difficult to compare movies across different decades when movie ticket prices were very different.

Can somebody give me a straight answer on how this movie is going to do? I own DIS stock and need this to be a hit, but I just checked the nearest theater and there is tons of seats still available on a Friday night in Los Angeles County and that is scaring me.
