It's was clearly schizophrenia. It can be a non-issue for years, only showing itself as you get older. She likely didn't realize she was schizophrenic. Or perhaps she did know, but wasn't properly medicated. Or got off her meds, or something. In any case, this would explain why she went crazy. Now she's probably on Antipsychotics. Which is probably why you don't see her doing much these days, because the meds make her more docile. Probably killed a lot of that creative energy.
