this. the only good seasons were 1 and 3. S2 was a bad adaptation of the source material and S4 was where the quality started to decline.

S2 wasn’t the closest adaptation but it was still great despite that, lots of strong character moments and blackwater was still pretty awesome.

Four is only saved by adapting some of the best stuff from the books. Joffrey's death, Tyrion's trial, Battle at the Wall etc. The OC however really starts to show its cracks come season 4. The writing gets REALLY lazy and convenient. Remember Yara's pointless expidition to save Theon? Remember Locke teleporting past the Wall to kill Bran? Remember Shae the funneh hore and how nothing she did made any sense.

They also cut out possibly the best written moment in the entire series for ten minutes of nonsense about a retard smashing beetles.

Arya lives - Sansa offers her a castle, she doesn’t want it / that aint her. Sets sail West of Westeros to find out what is there.

Bran lives – Becomes the new Three Eyed Raven and goes North.

Brienne lives – Becomes Sansa’s Queensguard. Sansa she says not a true Queen and Brienne says she is not a true Knight.

Tyrion lives – Meets with all the Lords after the death of Jon / Dany – suggests they instill a type of democracy and that the maesters should rule until they can figure it out. Yes, no one sits on the Iron Throne. There is no King or Queen any more.

Bronn lives – His last significant act is killing Varys with Tyrion.

The Hound lives – Cleganebowl happens in the Westeros map room Cersei has. He kills The Mountain with fire, having to overcome his fear or whatever.

Sam lives – His last big act is killing a White Walker with Heartbane while protecting Bran who is in his Weirwood coma thing.

Jorah lives – Becomes the 1000th (I think) lords Commander of the Nights Watch. Instills new rules how its now for life and some other shit.

Theon lives – Becomes honorary King of the Iron Isles (explained above).

Davos lives – offers to sail Missandei back to her hometown since Greyworm is dead.

Cersei dies - She dies after giving birth to a dwarf during the battle at Kings Landing. Arya finds her but seeing that she is dying decides not to kill her and then gets Tyrion. Cersei asks Tyrion to take the kid and raise him.

Jaime dies – Jaime joins the good guys and is in the battle for Winterfell. It gets over taken and a small group needs to stay behind so everyone can escape. He offers to lead it along with Tormund. They both die while everyone else escapes. Episode 3 or 4.

Varys dies – Last episode, all the lords are gathered up to decide what happens with the realm after the death of Jon and Dany. Varys has a plan to poison and kill them all. Tyrion finds out, confronts him with Bronn and Bronn kills him on Tyrion’s command.

Yara dies – Euron is getting killed by Theon and his last command to the Iron Born is to kill Yara, his prisoner, which they do.

Melisandra lives but then dies – After the battle for Kings Landing is over and the WW defeated. Her job is done and she takes off her necklace and looks to the rising sun and then disappears. Having served the Lord of Light fully.

Grey Worm dies – Dies in the battle of Winterfell.

Euron dies – Euron bails on everything after finding out Cersei is already preggo. Says he is going to sit this shit out and swipe in after to kill whoever survives the great war. He heads home to find Theon who challenges him to one on one battle for the Iron Throne. It takes place in the area of the Kingsmoot. Theon wins.

New Golden Company dude dies – after the battle for Kings Landing is over and the WW are defeated, the Golden Company starts killing all the Northern people per their deal with Cersei. Arya kills him and takes his face then commands them to stop.

All the dragons die – Rhaegal killed in a dragon fight with the other dragon. Dany burns the corpse quickly with Drogon and then goes back to fighting. Drogon latches onto the ice dragon and Jon shoots one of those huge spear things Cersei made and it kills both the remaining dragons. Last episode Tyrion finds 3 dragon eggs Drogon left behind but throws them in the ocean.

Ghost dies – dies in the battle of Kings Landing. Jon fights undead Ghost in the red keep.

This isn’t fair to say, they more stopped adapting the source material than ran out. If they didn’t cut Victarion, Stoneheart, Aegon, the GNC and kill Barristan for example they could have held out longer. They still would have ran out by now and there would be whole other problems with actors getting too old and audience burn out but it isn’t fair to say they ran out.

The books have a lot of traditional fantasy trappings, it's just that so many characters haven't been exposed to magic and fantastical creatures they don't believe them. But in the books at least there's plenty of them there.

If anything the subversion isn't really fantasy so much as the traditional image of the knight as some sort of dashing hero. Almost everything about ASOIAF is about tearing down that image and reminding us that knights were just killers on top of the social ladder.

S4 is where they ran out of material and started shitting up the series with their OC big time. the only thing that saved the season was the fact they were adapting the end of the third book, which is arguably the best part of ASOIAF. But in between the purple wedding and Oberyn you could already see the stark contrast in quality to D&D's original writing.

It becomes even more apparent later on. S6 was objectively the worst season by a mile because it was entirely D&D fanfic.

I'd say that one scene where Bronn and Jaime have to fight those three bitches in the courtyard. There's one specific moment, I think there's a webm, where Bronn is fighting the one with the whip and the one with the knives and it's choreographed so badly, the series never recovered
