It's funny for about 30 minutes and then it wears out its welcome, Army of Darkness is the patrician's choice
>old movie effects are dated
no kidding. and yes, it was a comedy. no, it wasn't bad.
Fuck off.
Still looks 10x better than any CGI to this day
It was worse than bad. The effects weren't convincing, the horror wasn't frightening, and the comedy wasn't funny. It's a complete failure at what it tries to do, people only like it because they tried to be edgy.
I slogged through Evil Dead one, two was marginally better, and then I quit. Sorry, Jay, your favorite franchise is 2/10
so it's supposed to be funny? i'm not making a joke i actually don't know. i have seen the original and evil dead 2 twice each.
i don't hate on the effects for being dated. i just think that this argument is an absurd excuse for what is an exceptionally dull film that essentially is a rehash of the original.
what's amazing to me is how many evil dead fans there are. it makes me feel like i'm completely missing something, but i really really just don't get it
yeah fuck modern cgi i won't take that away from you
who is Jay?
What? 2 is the best in the series this is generally an accepted fact
yeah, and it sucks. the series is garbage
It's literally a parody of the original film, which was meant as a straightforward supernatural horror flick but everyone laughed at it. Raimi saw this and remade it as an actual comedy
To be honest I love Raimi's style but don't give any fucks about Evil Dead, I think he's better when he works outside the horror genre
when's the funny part?
Between your ears you ugly troglodyte
It's all trying to be funny, over-the-top and deliberately campy. You didn't find it funny, that's clear enough. I found it mildly amusing but quickly grew bores
Christ, I hate this board. Why do I keep coming here?
feet pics
More than half of the threads are about that cunt of a fuck constantly and now this. The 80's was the peak of practical effects and Evil dead 2 is the second best horror film after The thing.
Literally fucking kill yourselves capeshit loving retards.
because you hate yourself more, like we all do
i'm fine with all of that to be honest, i just get (irrationally) mad when it gets listed as one of the best horror films
it indeed sucked, 1 and army of darkness are far better
some good scenes though like the laughing moose head
>muh evil dead
>muh Thing

Go back to your captain marvel thread
I sincerely can't imagine th
To keep up to date on Marvel/Disney and Jazz the tranny?
OP's friend simulator.
my bad response got posted. I sincerely can't image recognizing The Thing as great (it is) while also thinking that Evil Dead 2 comes even close to approaching it. It's literally a joke
Oh, I definitely hate myself. But not as much as this board.
>something is liked by Yea Forums
>"I must make a thread to shit on it!"
based and redpilled
just because an effect is cool doesn't mean the movie is good
>being irrational and knowing it
stop
Gross.
I am OP and also the person who asked that question
they shouldn't have retconed the intro, just start with the wind waving ash around and make him explain what happened after
The only effect that I remember was bad its the flying deadite at the end
I remember seeing the cover of this as a kid at my uncles house and it kept me up at night for the next 2 months
You can make that argument for Evil Dead 1, but ED2 is clearly not supposed to be serious.
Comedy-Horror has to be the worst genre out there
The effects are cool and the movie is good.
Weren't the demons sumerian? Why do they call them kandaharian as if they are from that Afghanistan city cause Kandahar doesn't sound like an English castle name to me
It literally relies on the viewer recognizing that the narrative is a joke
why
t. reddite
lmao evil dead is essential redditcore
Nah fuck you all.
Im not a poser, or an edgy dude, was like 2001 wheen I was 10 years old, my Family visited my grand mother, the house is in a town instead of backyard it has a plantation and a couple yards behind there's a river, that day was raining and the channels where limited so I was bored as hell until I find this movie, it scares the shit of me, everything was so gore and the cliffhanger final was amazing.
I didn't even notices if it was dated or overacting from Bruce, I really enjoyed how he never gives up and continues deffending himself with whatever he finds.
That night trying to sleep in middle of nowhere hearing every sound outside of the house was a horrible memory, but now I appreciate it, never again feel that scared like that day.
>yeah, and it sucks. the series is garbage
>muh edgy contrarian ""opinion""
it's parody-core and it doesn't succeed on a horror level or a comedic level
half of the fanbase doesn't even think that it's supposed to be funny
This isn't scary, this isn't scary! This isn't scary!!!
AoD > ED > ED2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> dog shit >>>>>> remake >>>>>>>>>>>> AvsED
You literally cannot prove me wrong on this
No it’s Yea Forumscore

At least someone can recognize the modern remake is absolute garbage
Remake was great, the concept actually works far better when played straight
I mean that in the sense that getting mad about lists is ridiculous. I don't think it's irrational at all to think that Evil Dead belongs nowhere near the list of top horror films
>appreciate good cinema
>pleb
Pick one
>Redditors watching anything pre-2000 that isn't Star Wars
lmao
what's the difference honestly. look at the fucking catalog right now
It's not about liking them, it's about holding them up as pinnacles of horror cinema. If you honestly believe The Thing or Evil Dead are the greatest horror films ever made, you are a pleb who needs to watch more movies
>the concept actually works far better when played straight
Not really, the ED remake literally didn't scare me at any point and unlike other horror movies that fail to be scary (The Shining, Alien, etc) it's also just not a very good film either. The original ED movies are better as they have some actual creative editing and camerawork along with being the movies where Raimi's style truly shines
I liked the series, although the black chick with the big tits is really fucking distracting.
and What do you think are the best horror movies exactly
>If you honestly believe The Thing or Evil Dead are the greatest horror films ever made, you are a pleb who needs to watch more movies
They literally are, though.
The horror genre is just really trash and not worth getting into that much. It's the worst genre of film besides romcoms
now I'm really curious what movies do you consider the "pinnacles" of horror cinema
That's right, Jay.
not that user but i find it hard to believe there's a better horror film than rosemary's baby
ED2 >= ED > remake > AoD
The remake is actually fantastic
And? The movie has a lot of fans, which means people were in on the joke.
...
Good goy

yeah yeah i'm not defending polanski. what's your favorite mr. patrician
>It's bad on purpose!
Any time someone says this about something good (and it's always about something good, without fail) I unironically get triggered.
Sometimes I sincerely hate having to share a universe with such a vast amount of retards.
Kuroneko, Kwaidan, Eyes without a face, Onibaba, Black Sunday.
Just to name a few
Based weeb
The remake sucks, AoD is objectively the best ED film
yeah those are good and rosemary’s baby also holds up with any of them
