>this is supposed to be a comedy
wtf this movie was depressing as hell, especially that ending.
This is supposed to be a comedy
Also was there a reason that both of the rebellious characters were american while everyone else had various UK accents?
Because americans revolted against brits irl
It is a funny movie, but yeah that ending gets me everytime
Then what was the significance of the jap samurai and baby mask creatures?
Very depressing
Bra-ziiiiiiiil
Where hearts were entertaining Juuuuuune
We stood beneath the amber mooooooooon
She slowly murmured someday sooon
AYO! YOU NEED A 27B-6 TO MAKE THAT KIND OF COMMENT. SHOW ME THE PAPERWORK OR I’M CALLING CENTRAL SERVICES.
This movie is one of the best examples why I love dark comedies.
stfu
Its working title was 1984 1/2. Speaks for itself.
>see calvary, listed as dark comedy
>it's actually soul destroying
b-bravo
>Sir, the campaign against teroor is now in it's 13th year...
>Beginner's luck!
by all means, we are now in the 18th year of war against terror and it has achieved nothing. Reality is worse than this dystopia. Bureacracy is also worse. At least they had clever bathtub plugs.
It's a parody of 1984.
it's kafkaesk. While it has humerous elements, it has no comedic relief.
But that is not a popular category for marketing.
1984 is a prediction of the future.
Brazil is a parody of the present.
>It's a parody of 1984.
t. retard
It had comedic elements
>Borgers can't into black humour
Colour me surprised
>terry gilliam's brazil
>supposed to be a comedy
Gilliam is pretty shit at comedy as a director without monty python
it's 1984 dressed up
Not american, but keep being obsessed.
the director literally gave up his american citizenship because he hates the country thats what he thinks of americans lmao
based and redpilled desu
A lot of people who move overseas do that since otherwise you have to pay taxes to two countries.
>1984 is a prediction of the future.
government creates arbitrary enemies for the people to hate
massive propaganda for the power elite
dissent is punished
It was Orwell's reality just as much as it is ours.
Kino
>JACK: Remember how they used to stick out?
>SAM: What? Oh, yes vividly. I used to wonder if they were real.
>ALISON: What, my ears?
It's hilarious Monty Python humor. But yeah, the ending always fucks me up.
>supposed to be a comedy
Who told you that?
Is it true that the US release completely removed the twist scene at the end because they knew audiences couldn't handle anything other than a happy ending?
On the description for the torrent I used it called it a "black comedy". It's pretty fucking black in my opinion. Maybe the comedy stood out more compared to the rest of it in the 80's but now some of this stuff is too real for my brain to just gloss over.
>what was the significance of the jap samurai
The director adores Akira Kurosawa and wanted to a giant samurai in his movie as a tribute. That's literally it, listen to the commentary track.
yes, mandatory happy ending for burger is true. But it didn't make a difference. The film was incomprehensible for burger audience either way.
1984 is an attack on the Soviet government
lel
>1984 is an attack on the totalitarian government
fixed it for you
see
Looks like the same author as well, that is a great image if real.
But it literally was an attack on the Soviet government
I made the mistake of watching this movie stoned while in high school.
I didn't really like this movie. It felt like it was all over the place both tone and plotwise.
Might give it a second watch tho.
>literally was an attack on the Soviet government
well, you can repeat your nonsense as often as you like but that doesn't make it true. Orwell was vary of totalitarian tendencies even in his own society. He describes mechanisms of power that are prevalent everywhere and at any time. Also he had read Lippmann's Public Opinion.
I think you are confusing that with Animal Farm.
>Not american, but keep being obsessed.
