Ruby Rose is putting on the cape for Batwoman. Reportedly darker and grittier that the rest of The CW's DC universe shows (Supergirl, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow), Rose will play Bruce Wayne's lesbian cousin, Kate Kane, who takes over the superpowered responsibilities in his absence.

The Rucka and Williams version of Batwoman as a lesbian with military ties was before the New52 reboot. I thought she was already realted to Bruce on his mother's side. Kate Kane was loosely based on Kathy Kane from the Silver Age. Funny enough, the character was created to offset accusations from the likes of Fredric Wertham that Batman and Robin were gay and comics were corrupting youths.
