Why do these ships have to be so gigantic?

why do these ships have to be so gigantic?

because you like men

Redundancy. They fly like a bajillion miles so things are going to break before they get to another planet.

It's an Imperial command ship. If you're going to conquer planets lightyears away, you'll want to have resources to spare.

sometimes they're not

soulless

What PS2 videogame artwork is this???

Because they were gigantic.

It needs to be big enough to martial the force of a system-wide security force, would you like to hold one planet let alone several with a smaller ship?

Cargo, plus a bigger ship means you can carry more guns and heavier guns.

It’s why the strongest countries used to build 74 gun ships as the backbone of their fleet in the age of sail.

Also small dicks

So they can carry a large number of guns, fighters, soldiers, and all of the logistics needed to support all of those things. It isn't complicated.

Those were practically unsinkable at the time.

In the Star Wars flicks, the smaller your ship is, the longer it lasts on screen.

>real answer
>because we needed some neat cgi to fly in

>retarded drones defending this dumb design
>mu..h..cargo...muh...lore..they like planet...to planet...

this was a poorly designed ideal and nobody would EVER just abandon a huge ship like that even if it was scrap

the amount of metal in that ship would be in the millions of dollars or credits or whatever star wars uses

Becuase they were more important as visual metaphor than and exercise in sound engineering practices.
It also looks pretty cool.

Think of them as large troop transports besides the ones that are specifically a super weapon of some kind.
