There's also entertaining acting, which is when either you or the actor has too much fun with the role.

Unless it's a blatantly bad performance, casting has a lot to do with it

Me too but i can tecognize very good acting when you know whst they are imitating and the immitation is good or when the charscter captivstes you.

I usually don't mind people being a little wooden or lacking emotion because I'm not American so it feels natural to me

On the contrary it's good acting if it DOES look like they're acting, but it's done in a purely dramatic way and with conviction. Being onscreen and managing to not fuck up your basic job of not looking fake isn't an achievement.

If you don't notice them I would say it's good acting.
I would say a director plays a lot bigger role than the actors themselves
