Kino or overrated?
Kino or overrated?
It's great. The monster effects are so disgusting and vile (in a good way, though). Literally every sequel is trash, though.
Kino 1st movie and universe, abhorrent garbage everything else
I prefer Hellbound, the evil psychiatrist was a great villain and I love his design when he becomes a cenobyte
Too bad Barker absolutely shit all over his own universe with The Scarlet Gospels
It was unbelievably bad
YOU SAID THE N WORD.
WE CAME.
Quite possible, havent cared for the franchise in years, so I dunno
What did he do?
One of those campy 80s horror films with a great concept which is somehow also genuinely unnerving.
Pure Kino
Remake when
you really want a remake of a beloved 80s movie in this day and age?
Overrated. Not to say it's bad, but it's not as good as people claim. 2 is actually more overrated. 3 is underrated.
He retconned about everything.
Hellraiser had such a simple concept that as long as they made it R rated I dont see how they could fuck it up.
Hellraiser had questionable acting and ending but it all worked because the concept was so simple yet brilliant.
If they kept the same concept and added modern gore effects it could be great.
The sequel was decent.
I'd be ok with a Hellraiser remake if they guys that did The Void were behind it. Some of the best effects I've ever seen in that, and it was already pretty Hellraiser-y.
It could easily be prime schlock kino
Classic kino and I'd dare say the first sequel is pretty decent too, though everything after is dogshit
bump
Amazing movie but i wish that they left out that ending with the CGI pyramid in the alien location. Other than that i think that they would probably do a decent job with hellraiser, effects and tone-wise.
1,2,3,and 4 are Kino.
4 is very underrated.
The others are Meh.
Some other guy said 3 was the last good one, wonder if I should give 4 a shot too
>Literally every sequel is trash, though.
The second film was made straight after the first by the same British production crew, they're basically one long film the first two. After that yeah.
Questionable acting? Hellraiser had a solid cast of supporting actors. Robinson and Higgins were both good actors. Laurence is far better actress than most scream queens, and Bradley turned a generic “Lead Centobite” into a horror icon
Overrated? It's literally underrated retard.
They need to make a dark rpg based on this. You can gain different powers when you venture into the cenobite universe depending on the cenobite you kill or the way you get tortured.
It needs to be rebooted so bad. I hate reboots but Mirimax turned the series to garabage just to keep the rights.
I hope Blumhouse does a soft reboot. Bring Bradley back and maybe have Laurence play Julia?
>modern gore effects
hope you like CGI see
i think maybe he's gone insde
1,2,3 kino
4 start of the rot
5,6 basically the same film
7,8,9,10.....163,164 trash
I wouldn't say that, all movie buffs know Hellraiser, prob why it spawned endless sequels
>the thing
>remake
Is a prequel, not a remake. I like it, not as good as Carpenter´s film, but is OK.
>Kino or overrated?
depends of the context. It was the first movie directed by Clive Barker, you have to give him the credit on that, for a debut is a damn good movie. It was released by 1987, by then the whole slasher genre was oversaturated and dimished in quality, Hellraiser and Nightmare in Elm Street 3 was the best horror movies of the year so yeah, both was seen as kino by then.
To me 1 and 2 are great. 3 is sort of OK, 4 with the toymaker and space station feels off. 5 is a welcome comeback to the feeling of the first 2 films, but the low budget is obvious. 6 and all the other sequels are shit.
