To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Not that guy, but I've seen this episode several times, and that's not really the feeling I got from it. The black dude was portrayed as the nicest, most likeable guy who the entire family warms up to instantly, except Jerry. It seems to imply he is in the wrong for being outraged/"antiquated" in his views. I could be wrong, it's just the feeling I got from it.

This is not any different from people here making BLACKED jokes, its a joke about it. Rick and Morty isn't nearly as cucked as people pretend it is, its just boring

you're right, but I think that's part of why it's funny. The guy is nice and likeable and obviously "one of the good ones" but he's still fucking your mom. There is no way around that, which is the joke. Jerry's reaction is totally rational but he's treated like a horrible bigot racist for getting upset at his humiliation, which is the joke.

Except Jerry is used in the show as a punching bag. You’re just sympathizing with him because you’re a white man. Life imitates art right. Look at the actions of the characters in the world and how they act and don’t use your own biases to judge what is being said. Remember there a people who don’t know any better watching this stuff and just see it as a way to act because they’re brain dead. It's a sci fi adventure show first, comedy second.

It was used as a joke though, it was obviously weird and upsetting to Jerry, while the rest of the family tried to take it in stride for the sake of Christmas despite also being initially repulsed. The first season is pretty low on any semblence of an agenda and pokes fun at all sides.
