Is playing a retard the secret to success? It seems it will kickstart your career if you're a young actor, like DiCaprio in What's eating Gilbert Grape? Or give you an automatic Oscar if you're an established actor... Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man, Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump, and I'm sure there are more.

i define talented as joaquin phoenix, PSH and christian bale, people who disappear into their roles. i'd add ddl to that list too, i know he's memed as the greatest actor ever, but he's great at sinking himself into his roles.
gosling isn't at their level imo, but he's still a damn good actor, slightly lower on the scale than, let's say, charles mcavoy
