The Dark Knight Rises

First time seeing this since it was out in theaters. Memes are unavoidable, but in all honesty, what did you guys think?

TERRIBLE

Forgot to add, I enjoyed it a lot. Less holes than I originally thought, but still clunky overall. 8.5/10

Not even that bad but no masterwork either.

Yea Forums will hate it because they are contrarian faggots

Pretty fucking bad and disappointing. Saw it on vacation in Australia in “G-MAX”
Got choked up when they unveiled the statue at the end, and Gordon’s silly Bruce Wayne revelation

it's fucking great honestly, fucking terrific and gets a hard 9 from me. never understood the nitpicking, struck me as pathetic desu.

the memes have only enhanced my view of this movie

Same, I think there’s way more to nitpick in TDK

Nolans insistence on blending the fantastical with the mundane was idiotic and makes all the batman movies feel childish and unreal. It's impossible to take characters like the joker and bane seriously when they inhabit a world otherwise identical to ours. Chicago is far too mundane and nice looking to stand in for gotham, and banes whole criminal take over looked ludicrously lawful, with no riots or rampaging criminals or even garbage in the pristine and snow ploughed streets.

Tom Hardy and Heath Ledger were the only good things about the trilogy. Everyone else was really miscast and the aethetics outside of the joker and bane were shit.

how can you not go apeshit for wayne making the jump without the rope, or for "I came back to stop you", or the all out war between cops and mercs, or fucking tanks rolling through the streets of gotham. the beginning is pretty clunky but it's a hell of a ride

You're a big guy

I was a big fan of the opening scene with the plane crash.

Joker movie was fine but your right Bane in Chicago was done poorly and felt really pathetic and unrealistic

Far too drawn out. They could have cut 30 minutes easily.

It was clear that whatever plan Nolan had for the 3rd movie got scrapped with Ledger's death. The plot feels like it jumps Bruce's development and ignore all we went through TDK. By itself is mediocre, Catwomen's take was too weak, the Robin chaacter fell way too underused and Bane gets fucking shafted in the 3rd act to be a secondary villain.

Its a meh movie alone and a very bad ending for the trilogy.

Not horrible per say.
It was just trying to tell three stories at once (Dark Knight Returns, Knightfall, No Man's Land) that didn't gel all that well, it was overwritten and had some big shoes to fill after really good TDK. And Hardy was trying his best - but there is no topping the Joker. So it ended up pretty disappointing.

And what kind of retard came up with the idea to give the role of a Batman sidekick to John Blake and not Barbara fucking Gordon? Especially given how closely Bats and Jim Gordon worked in this trilogy? The story writes itself.

I really enjoyed it when it came out and only enjoy it more now that the memes give unintended comedy to the weaker scenes

Not judging, but I find it hilarious that you fuckers expect some type of cinematic genius from capeshit.

it's the exact formula basically every superhero movie follow, although it's better followed than other capeshit
>hero's either on top of the world or marginalized at start
>villain introduction shows him doing some crazy shit
>villain beats the hero and leaves him for dead
>convenient self-reflection time for the hero while the villains offscreen doing bad stuff
>now everyone (including the audience) wants the hero to comeback and save them
>just when things are at the worst hero comes back
>hero with newfound inspiration beats the villain
>the end
BUT, Yea Forums WILL defend this

Those who look at capeshit with profundity belong on reddit. I for one love to see strong and well-executed movies, the Dark Knight trilogy is the best capeshit has to offer because it does justice to the characters and isn’t focused on appeasing neckbeards. There’s a singular voice in the storytelling

CIA still kino.

thought it was alright, but I remember being disappointed during. bane didnt seem earned, not that I blame hardy. he wasnt introduced well, and didnt make a whole lot of sense to me outside of the occupy wallstreet type tie in.

michelle pfiefer's catwoman would have been interesting to see in nolan's universe. seeing the bat vehicles focused on so directly, while unavoidable, felt alien. batman as tech god.

that's just the hero's journey though lol

The cinematography is TDKR biggest strength. The shots of Gotham (Pittsburgh) are gorgeous.

That's a lovely lovely voice

Bane?

It's garbage, but i also hate TDK and dislike or barely like most of Nolan's films. This one is probably the worst.

For You?

It falls apart in the third act. Batman wins so easily in the end. The final boss is a truck driver ffs.

more fun to rewatch than TDK, all 3 are genius compared to the current MCU/DC crap

Ledger's death clearly led to a rushed story with cobbled together pieces.

The introduction of Catwoman, the return of Batman, the fight with Bane, it works until the middle of the movie.

Then it falls apart. Bane ends up being a paper tiger and Talia is a bland villain. Nolan also does his third act villain twist which he did in Begins and TDK.

Third act is terrible overall.
They just became lazy on the action scenes both hand-to-hand and shootouts (lots of webm around showing it).
Robin and catwoman arcs aren't very good (compare to the cat in button's movie).
Bane was good but got sidelined halfway through for a failed femme fatale villain that can't act.
Pacing is off.
Premisse is retarded. At least begins relied on a surprise terror attack. Gotham city seems to be held hostage without any response here.

It goes on for too fucking long

shows how much of a hack Nolan is

Between US, I like Rises better than the other two Nolan made

I thought it was a solid conclusion to a pretty good Batman trilogy.

Begins is the only good film in the trilogy and even then it's not great. But at least it had this dark version of Gotham before TDK turned it into not-Chicago

I watched this again from beginning to end two days ago. It's actually a lot better than I remember it being.

But honestly - I don't imagine what kind of a role would Joker have in this movie. Become a rank-and-file goon for Bane?
A main baddie once again? And there was also a possibility that he might steal the show AGAIN like he did with TDK.

Although I do suspect that some of the Bane's scenes were written with the Joker in mind. Like his speech at Blackgate.

It' not bad, but it never had any chance of living up to its predecessor. After the loss of ledger I will say they were put in a tough position but it's by no means bad. It's an enjoyable movie

i cant believe professionals who make millions of dollars though it would be a good idea to have batman talk like a fucking retard. ehhhh ehhhhhh. i cant take any of those movies seriously because of how batman sounds
