was The Room even real?
I did not understand this film
Yes. Why wouldn't it be?
What movie
Well they never went into the room did they? I know that Stalker didn’t want to go in, Writer chickened out, and Professor decided not blow it up. Beyond that I’m confused.
It doesn't matter whether the room was real or not
The Dead Zone
Thanks always wondered what this scene is from
It's actually Stalker btw
The real Wish Granter was the friends they made along the way.
Not even memeing, that's basically it. 10/10 commentary on the human condition.
Yea Forums PLEASE stop recommending this to plebs as baby's first art film.
t. Gatekeeping art hoe
Read some poetry.
It was spelled out really blatantly what the nature of the room was and why no one went in.
It's not an art movie, but any viewer raised on blockbuster core will struggle with it for a while. Overcoming that cinematic illiteracy will be one of the greatest and most depressing moments of your life. A whole new world of beauty will be opened up to you, only for you to see that the door to that world has almost closed forever.
Captain Ron is a way better movie.
Its from Stalker , dude, not from the dead zone, he was trolling you.
>Dr Professor, I am stalker
>If you lose your inspiration, will you die?
>it would be extremely painful
>You are a big Writer
>what's the next step of your master plan?
>crush that room, with no survivors
Hack, overrated hack. That inspired an overrated hack.
I think I grew a vagina reading this post.
The whole movie is a metaphor you brainlet
>or perhaps he was wondering why a man would kill himself, after having his wish granted
Did it grow in place, or kinda random like on the left elbow
Hint: "Faith"
How gay do you have to be that you can't appreciate beauty?
>Dr. Dog refused our offer in favour of yours. We had to find out what he told you.
>Woof!
There many great films that will provide this transformational process easier and resulting in less butthurt Yea Forums threads.
I laughed too much to this one!
I'm glad you did, buddy. I love sending out smiles.
That's probably fair. Maybe we should recommend Playtime by Jacques Tati? It's complete nonsense until you get it, and you will know immediately when you do understand it.
It's about time, now niggers can actually fuck you, instead of you slurping their seeds out of other incels assholes
>he fell for it
kek
At the end of the movie we see what looks like the daughter walking, but in a wider angle we see that she is being carried piggy-back. At this point we likely think dadbro's wish was not granted and his mission was a failure. Then we see her moving shit with her mind, and ehh it might just be the train again, but wait o shi no it ain't.
Stop this. You aren't better or wiser than people who are younger than you or who have seen fewer movies.
The last hour of the film is literally the characters musing about the nature of the room & explicitly spelling everything out for the viewer.
Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real ?
Tell me about Porcupine, why'd he enter the room?
Thanks. I think I’m going to watch Solaris next. Then later on, I’m going to rewatch Stalker. I want to try to figure out this masterpiece on my own and not just from reddit
it's a pretentious meaningless shit
the script to it was rewritten by Strugatsky like 4 times or smth
all because Tarkovsky was unbearable lousy cunt
literally the whole film - nothing happens
the main hero is a weak-willed dumb faggot who mumbles dumb dialogues and performs paranoidal but meaningless actions
and don't seek hidden messages there outside the outstanding work of the cameraman this movie is a literal garbage
just read the book - it's short anyway
Read more poetry.
lol
you’re retarded
wow it's another le pretentious russian movie circlejerk episode
The black dog symbolise Hades
the room being real or not is ultimately irrelevant
the story is in the impact belief in the room has on people blah blah blah
why are so many great kino films literally kino films (soviet kino)?
How come slavs can into epic kino?
>A whole new world of beauty will be opened up to you, only for you to see that the door to that world has almost closed forever.
Wow user this is so deep and inspiring im literally crying and shaking right now. The tea has been spilled...
>t. le pretentious numale-shit
better be dumb than (you)
also I'm russian
You could call the pacing and editing style a little pretentious, but that is simple how he liked to tell a story. There is nothing highfalutin about this story. Apart from the subtle reveal at the end it is pretty straightforward.
He gave this film a 1/10
Not anymore
Stop talking about captain marvel and answer my question
I love this filme, is so aesthetics and perfect, i watched 3 times.
But even today i dont understand a shit of this movie, but i love it desuuuu
It was pretty easy to understand in my opinion.
Tarkovsky's works are called visual poetry for a reason, his aim was not to have certain images or symbols represent a strict code or meaning but to simply have them in themselves quite meaningless but together to form an emotional/subjective journey with the only objective elements being the plot (story/characters/setting) and the general theme or idea/meaning within the movie. For example within Stalker it had a focus around Man and Meaning, his necessity and search of it and most likely draws from Tarkovsky's personal experience within the atheist USSR. But it is left purposely vague and subjective to the audience, to give a meaning and emotional pathway that allows for great interpretation.
Look at the movie Beowulf, it is strict by extreme within the objective but I would say uses the subjective in an appeasing manner in an aim to further the objective (but then again one could say any form of art has a goal of the subjective but that is too metaphysical for casual chat). While with Kubrick's movies he merged them quite well, with having an strict objectivity while also having the level of subjectivity and heavy basis in general emotion and theme.
In end the emotion is the subjective even though it has an objective expression (or generally accepted as norm) such as fear from fearful music used in horror movies but it is still the subjective because of its relation to human emotion or irrationality. Tarkovsky based and created his movies on Intuition and Instinct rather than a pure methodological rationality as if every scene is designed to have a completely defined purpose in itself.
But at the end of the day Objectivity and Subjectivity are difficult things to understand for anything objective can only be understand subjectively hence the reason put the general emotional theme of the movie above all else.
NO IT WAS ON HUMAN MEANING
For what?
You see it is not a metaphor because Tarkovsky refused strict parameters, it can only be seen if at all it is a metaphor as a metaphor of emotion. The only strict absolute aspect about it was the general concept based direction of the film which was Human meaning.
my sides
Stalker was just larping. Anything weird or supernatural was just effects of radiation poisoning
Why would Russian charachters never shut up?
All their movies are always chock full of exposition. It's like watching an audiobook on youtube
I believe the girl moving the cup but oh no it was train hut oh no maybe it wasn't thing was implemented purposely to represent a certain vibe of mystery and some sort of acceptance in which we can gather when we see her smile just when the film ends.
"Why not forever... like the wandering Jew"
but why monkey?
I don't know but she smiled so guess she was happy, her dad appreciated her more. He found meaning in his family.
I literally don't know or care. I just like to watch slower movies with pretty shots, preferably with lots of fog. Great movie, anyone know what camera they used? I usually stick to 70mm films but this was breathtaking
Fuck I want that jacket
This film is about the lengths men go to shun domestic responsibility in the name of wonder and adventure. This is why the color palettes of Stalker are so important. The Stalker's home life is portrayed in dreary sepia, while The Zone has all the earthy, vibrant colors you would want to escape to. It's the perfect excuse to get away from his own responsibilities, as there is never a shortage of other men looking to do the same and those men need a guide, after all.
The Room is ultimately, hollow, empty, devoid of anything valuable or memorable - most unlike The Zone in which they all must travel through to get there. Because, as we know, there is actually nothing special about The Zone - only our Stalker's impression of it.
This is why the final scene is so crucial - he has yet to abandon his outlook on his home life (with the sepia tone still persisting), so much so that he completely misses his own daughter's telekinetic abilities. It's the ultimate, cosmic joke that renders him an absolute fucking idiot - his life is missing the special element he's searching for because he can't simply sit down and appreciate what he has, what he's built for himself. He only wants more than what he has, and that "more" is a fantastical abstraction.
This can only be the proper lesson of Stalker, given what happened to the entire crew - they shot the film in irradiated areas and suffered the consequences. Tarkovsky chased the ultimate wonder of filmmaking in the name of perfection, only to fuck everything up by giving himself and his crew cancer. This film is the ultimate cautionary tale and to view it as anything but is to miss the point monumentally.
huh?
k
This. Recommend Zerkalo instead
Literally 3 guys walking through abandoned buildings discussing dull philosophy. God what a waste of 3 hours
One day hopefully you will leave your current plot point mental midget level of experiencing films
