The manga, the part that most people care about, is 30 years old and only resulted in two OVA episodes. It was really easy to miss, like Video Girl Ai.

I'd recommend trying out the original manga if you really want to know what happens next, but just know, the last volume, they probably won't even touch.

Money wise, the movie is at 350 million WW, will be at 400 million sometime this upcoming weekend, so it's doing pretty good.

Critics are mixed to "mostly positive", but audiences fucking love it, so that's what matters.

Hugo is unjustly hated imo. The dude played his part well. Ironically I think he gets shit on because male romance figures a lot of times tend to take over the movie whereas here he was an ancillary character that was a stepping stone for alita. The irony being that incels that like this movie(like me) aren't used to a movie where the female protagonist is truly the main character.

I bought the digital version of Kodansha's 2017 release of the original BAA run and it's fucking fantastic. Really high res scans, not mirrored like the older releases I found online. I think they're still on sale for $6 each, so it wasn't too much money and it's a great intro to the series.

most people didn't like him at first but after 100+ generals, the general consensus is that he was fine and crucial to Alita's development. Huge is all right.
