Why is sci-fi so... fucking... stupid?
It's almost as bad as horror

2001: A Space Odyssey obliterates your argument
It's often firmly constructed around some sort of super advanced tech and society, written by people with no actual clue about either
>people don't know about the future
wow surprise
please look up obliterates in the dictionary, you must have been looking up antonyms in a thesaurus by accident?
>this homo thinks sci-fi is about pew pew lazers!
read a fucking book, faggot
>>people don't know about the future
>wow surprise
not the argument
>le 40 minute animal planet documentary and 40 minute LSD trip : the movie
"good" sci-fi will be boring to the average person. If you want a boring as fuck "good" sci-fi story then read "Inherit the Stars". The issue is that there is no antagonist and that biological science eclipsed 1970s knowledge by now it's weird to read about alien encounters with such limited discussions of molecular analysis.
>It's often firmly constructed around some sort of super advanced tech
This is the problem, not the discussion of the tech itself but the fact that the stories are vehicles to showcase hypothetical places technology could go. All the best and most interesting sci-fi have used those hypotheticals to explore the human condition, the tech is a means to a human end and not the end itself.
See Dune, in which none of the minutia of the tech is explained and you could give a fuck.
