It was a great show when I was younger, but revisiting now that I'm older I feel that it is a little cheesy.

Still the best DC TV Show.

Season 1 is like a high budget buffy.
It goes steadily downhill.
By season 7ish they ditch the dramatic lighting and comic book framing and it’s just like every other teen drama.
The last season is an absolute travesty. I wish I’d just left it.

Literally rewatching it with my girlfriend because she has not seen it. We are almost done with season 3 and yes it still holds up. One of the better episodes of that season was the luthor family episode.

The WB seasons are good and comfy, the CW seasons are garbage. That merger ruined a great channel

There were plans for both Batman and Wonder Woman to show up, but both sort of fizzled out as Nolan's Batman films were taking off and god knows what prevented them from having Diana even do a one-off appearance - instead they substituted with Green Arrow and Zatanna.

Its largely a product of its time so expect it to not have aged gracefully but it can be pretty damn entertaining.

The monster of the week thing was obviously bad but it only lasted for the first season though, IIRC.

Even as far as season 10 they were doing freak/villain of the week episodes, its a staple of genre television.

There's nothing inherently wrong with a monster-of-the-week format, the problem is that we're supposed to believe all of these meteor freaks are just now coming out of the woodwork. It's too convenient and very silly. The writers should have focused more on the characters and less on that

Oh no, in the seasons past the first they basically decided to have those episodes mixed in with story arc episodes - it worked out for the better.

early episodes are so cheesy and 2000s its quite charming and fun to watch. It gets kinda of cringe later on especially cause the budget for this show was never that much. Still I'd say after Season 6 it goes downhill but for the most part its very enjoyable.

Rosenbaum is the best Lex though and the early episodes are like a high budget Buffy and are filmed pretty well compared to the later seasons which look like some poor CW show that gets cancelled on netflix after 2 seasons. Welling is also great, I find it amusing they cast this 6 foot 4 absolute hunk of a chad to play a 15 year old loser high schooler. Makes no sense, even if he is cast really well in terms of acting and range.

They really hamstrung themselves with the “No tights, no flights” rule, which worked for the first few seasons but ended up getting ridiculous for the latter couple. Apparently it was Welling who was a main supporter of that rule also.

Words can’t express the disappointment I had with the series finale where we didn’t even see Welling in a proper costume.

Early season was somewhat comfy to watch. Clark learning and coping with his powers, Lana watching, best bro Luther, etc.
