What is your favorite De Funès kino ?

Mine is "Faites sauter la banque" in which he digs a tunnel with his family to rob the bank in front of his house.

Probably La Folie des Grandeurs but I haven't watched any of them in 10 years

This one is good.
Are you guys french or is this movie well regarded outside of France ?

French here. This one is pretty obscure from what I can gather, the only US release was on DVD by some shady company. As for Europe, no clue.

Fantomas is great. All of them. I also liked Oscar, L'homme orchestre and The Wing or the Thigh. But most of his movies are enjoyable.

Yeah, I only heard about it because my mother loves it, for some reasons. They often air it around christmas time, but I think most french people haven't seen it.
It's quite comfy though.

The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob is the pure Funèskino.

We don't talk about this movie anymore.

What's the one where he tries to hide corpse in his house? He is with his wife and the corpse is put into some statue which breaks and then they try to hide the body. There are some guests in the their house and also police. They put it into suitcase i think.

The film's called Jo

Yes, that's it. Thanks.

I forgot about this one.
It's one of those movies he made who felt like theatre plays (which they were at first most of the time).
I really liked it as a kid. Should check it out again.

Le gendarme et les gendarmettes

t. Russian

This. His character is great, even better than Cruchot. The gags and jokes are great and it has a minimum amount of weird or boring parts that are often in those type of comedies in the 60s and 70s.

Came here to post this.

That movie probably started my puberty.

This. Still hilarious, but the majority of them were funny. The first 30 minutes of Le grand restaurant are also amazing.

De Funès saddest scene was in the most silly film he ever had a part in.
For some reasons the end of this movie gets very emotional, which is weird when you know that the plot implies farting and aliens.
