When will we ever get a show like Mad Men or The Sopranos. I just can't keep watching all this shit that is coming out now.

Mad Men was just a soap opera for men (doesn't mean it wasn't well done though).
Change my mind.
yes i am
There's good shows still being produced you just have to look for them
Go watch mexican telenovela is the same thing
True still an amazing show for the most part
Should just band together and write a new one. Just need an adulterous but redeeming potagonist and his friends.
name some, the only thing i like now is Better Call Saul
The Terror
True Detective
Young Pope
Sharp Objects
I am the night was short but good
Expanse is the best scifi show out right now
Mr robot s1 and 3 were great. Need to watch 2 to get to 3 tho
To add to this,
Sopranos is one of the best shows ever. Its hard to match up to that.
Mad men was unique and pretty good as well. Not many shows get made like this
Breaking Bad
kys
mad men ie feminist propaganda
>When will we ever get a show like Mad Men or The Sopranos
you mean yet another movie about a middle aged white male anti-heroe that's depressed despite the fact he has huge loads of money and influence?
yeah, we really do need another show about that
Breaking Bad is a fine show not as good as normies make it out to be but still very good
Yeah. We do.
The Terror (Downloaded didn't watch it yet wasn't in the mood for something that seems really bleak.)
True Detective (s1 was great until the last few eps. Really liked s2 for the most part. s3 was shit.)
Young Pope (Watched like 2eps and stopped might give it another try.)
Sharp Objects (Downloading right now.)
I am the night was short but good (downloading)
Expanse is the best scifi show out right now (watched s1 some of s2. Its okay but not great, still might finish it.)
Mr robot s1 and 3 were great. Need to watch 2 to get to 3 tho (liked s1, s2 as you said, s3 was okayish)
>being retarded
have you ever once seen a soap opera?
soap operas have interminable plots, constant "dramatic effect pauses", twists for twists sake, product placement/produced by a company, low production values and are loaded with cheap drama.
>inb4 you ebinlly reply mad men has all of those
a piece of media not having violence doesn't make it a soap opera you retarded capeshitters.
Every episode of mad men is a complete story taking part in a continuous story.
You wanna know what is far far more soap opera like? Dragon ball Z
We really do.
>Really liked s2 for the most part. s3 was shit.)
why did you like S2 more?
theres bojack
I really liked the characters and the setting, Velcoro is one of the best TV characters ever for me and Colin Farrell did a great job. I just could really identify with the overall mood. Objectively it wasn't that great but I really liked it.
I'd argue Velcoro was the only memorable part of the season. Gaycop and McAdams were forgettable. Vaughn was memorable but not in a good way. S2 had great production values but it felt a generic cop show. Season 3 in comparison was much more unique and explored much more interesting ideas like dementia Hays and the dynamic between timelines. Why didn't you like S3?
Plus Ani really did it for me.
She was attractive sure but I thought her character was pretty generic
The main things for me were no real suspense, I wasn't exited to watch the next episode to see what happens next. The acting was great Mahershala Ali was really good, but I just coudn't connect, maybe I am just racist. I also liked Roland and the Dad. Also not a fan of the make young actors look old, even tho it was well done. Overall nothing happend ending was meh. I just did not enjoy it.
Is True Detective all tied in? Like do season 2 and 3 have anything to do with season 1, like big overarching story, or are they completely standalone?
Yea her character was mediocre, some for gay cop and frank but still okay
you need to rewatch it, i'm in the middle of my 3rd rewatch and am just starting to notice how terrible the writing (especially dialogue) is.
it feels like a show made for children or retards in terms of how obvious they need to make everything. no subtlety like you'd get in the sopranos
I like S3 because its focus is the characters and how their lives are effected by the case. I understand why it's not everyones cup of tea but the banter and strength of the performances had me hooked
no not at all, s3 had a little reference to s1 but otherwise not.
>am just starting to notice how terrible the writing (especially dialogue) is.
How so?
I feel disappointed by that
I feel you, same for me in s2 its just small personal preferance things. I also really disliked some charcters like Hays wife. It for sure wasn't bad bad.
I kinda like it if you haven't watched any season you should give it a shot for sure.
I've watched 1 and enjoyed it, but never got around to any of the others. I think I'll have to try them anyway though because I can't think of anything else to watch.
Yea I thought it was still the best show on TV. All seasons of TD are solid S1 just set such a high bar that the following seasons feel underwhelming in comparison for some
Soap opera stuff was just a bait and the show focuses on much more relatable and deeper issues.
Same with The Sopranos really, in the last season just the two last episodes were strictly mafia related.
Based season 2 patrician
You sound like a discord tranny
You should give the Terror a watch its top kino
why would you bite on such shitty bait? are you a zoomer?
>Mad Men/The Sopranos of the current year
>focuses on alt right
>most of the action takes place on message boards, portrayed by lynchian/lovecraftian dream-like sqeuences
>in reality it's just some fat neckbeards trolling people
>in reality the real theme of the show is the hell of incel and inability to function in real world because of autism
Yea agreed. Maybe I am just salty because I had higher hopes for s3. I was really salty about the s2 ending, I dont mind deaths, but Rays death just feeled forced and unnecessary for me.
Season 3 was good but I agree it just wasn't what people were expecting. I thought the finale was shit when I first watched it but it's sitting better with me with each passing day. I respect Pizza for not just rehashing S3 and what he was going for (even if it didn't land every time)
>I just can't keep watching all this shit that is coming out now
you don't have to
I have no life and I am very depressed, good TV and Movies is the only thing that gives some serotonin and I am not ready to end it yet.
start smoking weed and stare at the wall that's what I do
Its hard for me to get weed so I'll just drink. Thinking about growing.
Have you watched the first season of Esmail's other show Homecoming?
never. alpha male leads are a thing of the past.
Unironically never
>Homecoming
is it worth it?
agreed on Velcoro being a GOAT
Just finished TD S3 and I'm hugely disappointed. It got a little exciting around the middle part, but that's it. The criminal case overall was incredibly weak and I feel like there is more than one loose thread they forgot to resolve.
Acting was good, but Hays and West still didn't have the level of charisma Cohle, Hart and Velcoro had. I found Hays boring most of the time, and West was incredibly underrepresented.
The setting was great, though.
When AI gets strong enough. Then you can just tell it to give you a series like Sopranos and Mad Men and it will deliver it to you.
i feel pretty much the same
Pretty much this.
Mad Men is a character drama, end of fucking story, same as Sopranos.
It's god tier and will always stay god tier.
I really love Mad Men, but at times it felt soapy I understand how you could make that argument. Still some of the best TV ever. Who cares about labels.
youtube.com
one of the best endings ever
took me a second to understand (brainlet) but better than any show ending i can remember
It's called a different tone retard
youtu.be
Franks death from TD season 2 was pure kino as well
>this show is for retards
>and it only took me three watches to realize this!
congratulations you played yourself
Why is the man on the left gigantic?
CGI
Make it yourself, user ;-)
the more I think about, there hasn't been any tv shows lately that are grounded in reality. everything seems to just be purely escapist. the last was probably true detective 1
give me the money and i would hire the right people
