The Night King's objective, you ask? Perhaps he's marching south in the hope of killing everyone and finally ending the dullest TV series of all time. Seriously each episode following the sons of Ned Stark and Bobbie's boars and bastards from Westeros as they fight assorted fantasy villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of good writing and ineffective use of special effects, all to make the world unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Fat Fuck vetoed the idea of someone talented directing the series; he made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for his books. The Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Lord of the Rings in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

"No!" The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character wanted to drink, the author wrote instead that the character "wanted to shat".
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Fat Fuck's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that he has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of A Game of Thrones by the same Brandon Sanderson. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these manchildren are reading Game of Thrones at 28 or 29, then when they get older they will go on to read the final two books of A Song of Ice and Fire, written by me, when they're 69." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Game of Thrones" you are, in fact, trained to read Brandon Sanderson.

No one talks about this. Aside from maybe Dorne which is still pushing it Westeros is not an egalitarian society. It is a feudal heavily male-dominated monarchy. Cersei is significantly worse and yet everybody is fine with it. Even the Lannister Army that Cersei beheaded. The iron islands are heavily patriarchal but everyone is just fine with a female calling all the shots? Daenerys armies are literally being led by a castrated man but we're supposed to buy the narrative that everyone is supposed to be equal even though it's very sharply feminist. Game of Thrones. Becoming a feminist show. I'm not sure that's how the author had in mind for how everything would end. Which is probably why he doesn't care about it anymore.

Fine here's the story. In a feudal society there was a crazy King who killed people for fun until a guy name Robert killed him. Before he died his daughter was shipped off to another continent so she wouldn't Die too. Fast forward some time in the King's wife Cersei hates her husband starts having sex with her brother. The king's right-hand man dies so he gets his friend Ned to be his new right-hand man. Ned son catches the queen having sex with her brother and so they push him out a window. Ned and Robert go south to the kingdom while the boy's mother tries to figure out who tried to kill her son. She wrongfully fully assumes it was the Queen's younger brother Tyrion who she hates that tried to kill her son and kidnaps him. The Queen's father gets mad and declares war on the Stark family. While Ned tries to get to the truth of why this is happening he finds out about the queen and her brother. And because he's an idiot he tells the queen to her face what he knows and that he's going to tell the king. So the King dies, the queen denies everything Ned says, declares her bastard son the new king, and has Ned imprisoned. But because her son is a psychopath he goes and kills at which Sparks a countrywide war with five different people claiming that they should be King instead. Meanwhile that daughter on another continent feels like she should be Queen since her father's Throne was stolen from him and has three giant dragons to enforce her will

I don't want to say that Jon is ruined yet. He makes a lot of decisions that people doing agree with logically because they don't have his viewpoint. If you don't believe that the Walking Dead exists then your leader telling you to allow your mortal enemy into the country which sound insane. And it wouldn't be the first time the Nights Watch had a crazy Commander. So Jon at least still feels like he belongs in the show. But it's going downhill fast. Him charging in by himself in the battle of the bastards. And grinding EXP when he should be escaping in the far north.
