This movie really could have been a lot better if they had made it Norwegian language and have Rory as the only english speaking actor learn his lines and accent, actually made a point of showing other bands in the scene like Emperor and Darkthrone instead of just having them as background muppets, make the film more like a talking head pic like I, Tonya where truth and reality distort instead of having Varg be some blatantly autistic bad guy and Euronymous be some paragon of good kid gone wrong. Overall it was still very enjoyable to someone who was into mayhem in high school though anyone with taste knows ABITNS is peak Norwegian black metal and Fenriz didn't need to be an autistic retard to put out 4 albums one after the other that people constantly quote interchangeably as being their favourite black metal/death metal album. DMDS is fucking great though and I've had it on in my car the last week or so, Atilla's "FUCK"s on that first track are awesome, love that recording scene in the movie, in fact all the actual scenes featuring musicianship where the highlights.
