Liam Neeson dies in the 1st act

>Liam Neeson dies in the 1st act
Should I even bother continue watching this? I can already tell this is going to be awful

Daniel Day Lewis and Jim Broadbent are the best parts

>hur let me just make a thread about this on Yea Forums
just end your life already

It's not awful, but it's not great either. Diaz is awful, DiCaprio is pretty pedestrian, but DDL is great. Pretty hammy performance, it works though.

Honestly it was kind of boring all the way through

What other board would I make this thread on?

>I can already tell this is going to be awful
yeah it's shit

I'm about halfway through now.
>amazing production value
>good writing
>great acting
>fantastic cast
>good direction
Yet why am I so bored? I feel like I'm just watching old time slice of life

Literally could not stop falling asleep during this

Diaz was shit and the 'romance' between her and Leo drags the fuck on forever

This is the film that never ends, it just keeps going longer and longer

You could just skip to all the DDL parts and actually enjoy it a little

>suddenly starts showing actual paintings interspliced between racist acts
What the fuck just happened? Why did this just become propaganda?

>shitposting while watching a movie
how's the ADHD treatment going?

>Should I even bother continue watching this? I can already tell this is going to be awful
I wouldn't. GoNY marks the beginning of Scorsese's cringe later period, where his style changed to a Hollywood-friendly style.

If I was taking medication for it I obviously wouldn't be here

>stops a movie to complain about it on Yea Forums
Turn it off, you don't deserve Scorsese.

just skip any part DDL isnt in

>he thinks I'm pausing this piece of shit to shitpost about it
This is easily the worst Socrsese film I've ever seen.

The third act is so rushed. It's as if Scorsese himself became bored by the movie and just fast forwarded the last act

More like gays of New York.

I really don't have anything else to add, what a garbage film.

I love this movie, Daniel Day Lewis chewing on the scenery and Leo's shit accent. Superb.

The direction is actually not good, the opening battle was laughably cheesy.

>I've ever seen.
>seen

Considering the watching habits you demonstrated in this thread, you haven't seen a single film yet.

Yeah, I take that back. It became painfully apparent during the final part of the movie

Not that good but has some enjoyable moments

>>amazing production value
i guess that explains the comically bad CGI elephant running through the street

>>good writing
nah

>>great acting
other than DDL it was nothing special

>>fantastic cast
sure, in a sense

>>good direction
>muh rock music
>muh new york city
>ebin ninja battles
nah

I didn't expect the movie to get as bad as it did the longer it went and I agree with everything you're saying.

overrated

I'm inclined to agree. The only one possibly worse is Hugo. Most would overlook that one, but I don't give bad movies a pass simply because they are made for children. Objectively speaking, it's shit.

Hugo was so far out of Scorsese's wheelhouse, the fact that it even exists is interesting

I stopped watching when the first fight turned into a trashy music video, paddies should be barred from film-making.

It's great but you can't handle it. Turn it off user

But I already finished it and now I'm watching Blue Ruin.

>Yet why am I so bored?

Maybe because you stop to update your blog post every fifteen minutes?

I take it back and respect your film choices. I saw blue ruin late last year or this year. KINO

meh it's alright, 6/10

This was a great man

Don't bother with this, it feels like a straight to tv movie.

Bill is a sort of Uncle Charlie figure, but Shadow Of A Doubt is a far better film.

>The third act is so rushed. It's as if Scorsese himself became bored by the movie and just fast forwarded the last act
I hate this, it happens in The Departed as well.

>good writing
No... good use of slang, but bad plotting.

I just finished it. It's was good. 7/10. They really needed to develop the characters more, but as far as a revenge pictures go it was definitely in the higher teir

I'll take Scorsese's rushed last acts over Tarantino's never ending drawn out obvious conclusive last acts

Well if it was good for him he wouldn't have.
Unironically last movie I saw was Legally Blonde and I never once paused to do something else it was so fun.
Sometimes it happens that we force ourselves to watch something we don't like and get bored so halfway through we shitpost on Yea Forums or do something else.

Legally Blonde is unironically kino
>bend...andsnap

>whats your bf name

Chuck

>i-i thought u said friend Chuck is just a friend
>YOU BITCH

Jim Broadbent's accent was bad
Stephen Graham's was terrible

i bet the jews forced marty to do a love interest angle with cameron diaz, it basically ruined the picture. makes no goddamn sense. but even without that, the film has two fatal flaws:
>the "protag infiltrates antag's organization and becomes his no. 2 guy within a week" cliche
>the "protag meets antag 1-on-1 in the middle of a gigantic skirmish" cliche
honestly, marty was off his game here

Scorsese talked about this at the time. Weinstein wouldn't pay for a real elephant. Presumably because he had no interest in fucking one.

It tonally shifts towards "fantastical" for a period piece, when it should have been a drab and frank look at the era. Keep it to a bunch of degenerate men beating the shit out of each other with different varieties of obnoxious whores filling-in the gaps like Goodfellas or most of his earlier works.

It's a shame because it's such a unique time.
