the closet part is bad she shouldnt have done that a crib or the car seat and put the kid in the next room or whatever so you can hear them a bit would be acceptable. sometimes babies cry and you just let them cry and tire themselves out. babies not remembering isnt an excuse to just do whatever, like the first few years dont "count" cause memory doesnt kick in until 3-5 is a terrible way of thinking people have with kids. very young children arent learning to "tough it out" or "you cant always get what you want" not having their needs met will not teach them that at all at that age, they honestly need all their needs met to develop a healthy sense of their world itself being "stable". if an infant is ignored and stuff they develop deep rooted problems like anxiety because they have a foundation of uncertainty about basic needs getting fulfilled and can have trouble bonding with other people because they didnt get that original mother/child bond, literally the basic sense of not being alone in this reality. so yeah sometimes enough is enough and the kid is going to cry and its about nothing and you need to let them tire themselves out, however that is not to say just ignore infant crying in general cause they wont remember it anyway and some false sense of this somehow teaching them independence and toughen them up etc... thats bullshit. teach a kid who can talk "they cant always get what they want" and a stuff, sure. but not an infant. an infant barely understands its existence and needs to know it will be ok so their groundwork for life isnt stress and fear.

It's tough and more often than not I feel like I'm not doing enough. I get women that become depressed due to child rearing because I get it too. Mostly I love life, it's only when all of my kids are going crazy that I feel helpless. It's tough to be a stay at home parent.
