Fountain was his best movie by a long long mile

yes and no one has

aronofsky hasn't made a single good film, they are all pretentious, self-fellating garbage.

Shit taste, my man. Black Swan is good. Just because it doesn't have explosions or superheroes doesn't mean it's bad.

i enjoyed this movie, it was pretty great

>masterpiece
yeah no, you're probably thinking of the Wrestler which is understandable since Black Swan is basically the same movie but with ballet and Hershlag instead of wrestling and Rourke.

*ahem*

>accuses someone of having shit taste
>black swan was good

what in fuck’s name is going wrong with today’s youth? your brains are all malformed.

masterpiece just means a particular artist's best piece, which is an opinion that varies from person to person.

It was a genuinely good piece about artistic struggle and obsession. What's there to dislike about it?

who fapped to the lez scene?

*raises paw*

>pretentious

Not necessarily. There can be something like a consensus you know. Also are you retarded or do you think I am because you seem to think teaching me that opinions are subjective is something worthwhile to communicate on fucking Yea Forums.

some of these are kind of a stretch.

>Not necessarily. There can be something like a consensus you know.
Yeah, but it's harder when the artist has verious great movies. Or verious critically-acclaimed movies, anyway. Like, what's Kubrick's masterpiece? Orange? 2001? Barry Lyndon? It depends on who you ask.

Yes, Aronofsky had to buy the rights to Perfect Blue in order to make Black Swan. Both are great films.

Did anyone else love the colors and overall cinematography of the film? Maybe I am not remembering it right but I think there were a lot of low light and interior shots that gave the movie a claustrophobic? feel.

It was ok. A little slow to get started byt watchable.

we finally got to see JLaw's tits

One of the few good "not giallo" giallo films

maybe it's just from living in nyc and that shot in particular but there is nothing cinematic or artful about a subway car

isn't she going insane in that subway car, though? THAT'S cinematic

>no darren batman movie
feelsbad

I remember actually seeing this in the theater back when it came out. I was 20 and not yet into analysing movies while watching them as I am now but I also remember thinking that it was one of the most pretentious movies I had ever seen. I knew that it was somehow a solid movie but I really had the impression that the director was sucking his own dick during the entire production process. it's not a bad movie by any means but it just felt too arrogant with the subject and message it was trying to convey
I can certainly understand someone liking it but I just can't be bothered to watch it again

>finally

sounds like your a little slow

You think Black Swan is pretentious? Fucking watch The Fountain. Black Swan is one of Aronofsky's most grounded films.

I just don't see the alleged prententiousness or arrogance some of you are mentioning. It's a very tight movie with no room for all that floriture.

>What's there to dislike about it?
Nothing. Yea Forums just likes to pick and choose which directors and movies to hate without giving valid criticism and just jump straight to
>IT'S REDDIT!!!

I just checked. I only watched BS, The Wrestler (which I thought was fantastic), and Noah (pretty nice even if it falls apart during the second half). I have wanted to watch Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain forever, I really need to get to it. Curious as to what the experience will be like

It has literally been like almost 9 years since I have watched it so I don't remember it that well. I THINK I thought that every shot and piece of dialogue felt way too forced. It's like when Americans are trying to speak British English to seem superior. It just didn't feel organic if you will, at least iirc

Can't a movie be good and bad at the same time though? I do agree that picking directors to hate is retarded but Black Swan was far from perfect
